Pomona

How impossible is Pomona admission? I feel like people treat it as harder than HYPS. Is their ED better? Does DC count for geographic diversity? My naviance only has ten applicants and one accept from my school in past three years which isn’t enough data to be helpful.

I have never really understood why anyone goes there because, if you have the grades and all, why not go to a bigger school that people have actually heard of? What’s the appeal? I’m stumped.

Either both of you or neither of you are being sarcastic but either way I’m sure OP wants more information than acceptance rate which they could google. I have little input except that I know their ED is quite a bit higher

Anyone who matters has heard of Pomona. Believe it or not, for many of us, we don’t care what schools Joe Schmoe has heard of or if the people on the Beltway will be impressed by a Pomona sticker.

That’s good, then, because 99 percent of people inside the beltway will be more impressed by a UVA decal.

It’s like the old saying about jazz - if you gotta ask, you’ll never know.

It was DS’s top choice over several ivies and Stanford. Great school that was perfect for him.

was DS top choice also, this year applied ED. Rejected. I thought DC/East Coast would help, as there are many here who know nothing about the school. Oh well. DS loved the school and felt he would fit in well there.
