| yes but what about high rise jeans on a horse |

Same, I’m 5’1” and a bit short waisted, but waistband brushes bottom of my navel. So much better than exposed hips. I don’t have a dramatic waist, but contouring into the small of the back gives me more definition, not less. Sure a photo dead from behind with a crop top might look like a flat wall of fabric, but I don’t dress like that and IRL the profile is not flat butt. The argument is silly, sure don’t wear them if you don’t like them, but adding fabric doesn’t actually change the shape of the body (aside from skipping the muffin top). |
| I can't get past the title. How can one style be unflattering on ALL body types? Wear what looks good on your body. If you follow a trend just to remain current you may be sporting a look that really doesn't work for you. |
| This is the OP again-wow, I kind of regret starting this thread. I definitely regret the title which I said in my second post was a mistake. Also, if people would read the original post they would have seen that I don't think that just because high waisted jeans aren't flattering on me that I don't think they aren't flattering on everyone...omg I'm not a dense, completely oblivious narcissist. I wish I had the a** to pull off these jeans but I don't lol. My apologies to anyone I've somehow offended. |
Please don't feel bad. This was an interesting, sometimes funny thread. Bottom (pun intended) line: there are so many shape variations and, just because a style is on trend, doesn't mean it will look good on every shape. |

This thread has made an outstanding case for clothing retailers to make pants in a variety of rises to flatter a variety of body types and not lemming like dash to offering just the one most trendy rise.
I am one of the lucky ones that looks best and feels most comfortable in high waisted jeans. |
So am I, and high-waisted jeans come up to my boobs. Not a good look on short-waisted people, PP. It makes me cringe that you think you look good...eek! |
Christ, even OP has said they aren't unflattering to everyone. Sorry you have a saggy, flat butt. Life is harsh. |
True. The other thing is high waist means fitting more of the body, which means fewer people can buy off the rack. There’s a reason retailers/designers embraced low waist, sleeveless, etc |
| I can't stand super high waisted or low rise. Give me a nice mid-rise, I can do slightly high waisted but mid-rise is the most comfortable and flattering on me. I don't care about trends. Super high waist , shirt tucked in with a short torso and boobs over a B cup? The look is all boobs. No thanks. |
+1. I’ll let the saggy old hag have her low rise flares, but she needs to stop yelling at everyone else to wear the same thing. |
+2, at least we’ve made it this far without hearing “long john donut.” (I said it first, you can’t use it now .)

Ok, Long Butt McGutt |
| Sure thing, Droopy Pooper. |
