High waisted jeans aren't flattering

For the high waist lovers: where, in relation to your belly button, is the top of your high waisted jeans?

God, what doesn't look good on you?

Gotta love the mom-jeans brigade proclaiming that anything less than a high waist shows butt crack. Your exaggeration makes your opinion even more laughable than your weird, long, flat butt in your pants.

That side-by-side is ridiculous. The left side shows super low rise, the kind a tween would wear in 2002.

My jeans for the last few years have been below the belly button, but above the hip and with a little stretch. They look appropriate, proportion wise, with any length of shirt and don’t gap when you lean over.

For someone with hips, they are just right. High waisted jeans looks great on an Influencer’s feed on IG, but they look frumpy and disproportionate in real life.

I'm short waisted and curvy and high waisted jeans look great on me.

Low rise hit me on the widest part of my hip. Mid rise jeans still appear to be a bit low waisted on me and high rise jeans fit at my natural waist which is a flattering look since it is the narrowest part.

I’m tired of squeezing my post baby body into low- or mid-rise jeans with all the extra skin squished up into a muffin top. I just bought some high waisted jeans from the Gap and they are awesome. They make me feel slim at the top (I know this is the definition of mom jeans) and I don’t feel like anything is hanging out. How can that not be flattering? Granted I will probably wear these with sweaters and non-tucked in shirts but I feel good in them. I haven’t bought Gap jeans in over 10 years but I’m going to get some more.

I too have been happy with the Gap jeans lately!

I need to buy some high-waisted. Can you tell me which ones you bought?

My Gap ones hit right at my belly button.

High waist pants ----> long butt, not flattering. Just beneath the belly button is the absolute highest point a waist band should go to and that is stretching it.

Actual mom jeans are whatever is ten years behind the trend. Time was pockets under the ass was expected, nowadays it’s more mom than the sink sketch

This is exactly how I imagine the posters who refuse to hang up their 2005 bootcuts look.

Nah, we have curvier hips and a$$es

Mom jeans are any cut of jeans which envelop the hips, @ss, stomach and waist in one big ole package. Swooping all these together requires a lot of fabric and has the unfortunate effect of 1)elongating the butt and 2)creating the illusion (or highlighting) of a poochy midsection. Just like Mom.

I am very long in the rise and high waist jeans are about an inch below my belly button. Others may be exaggerating when they say non-high rise show their bum but in my case it’s definitely a real risk.

We know, but that doesn’t make it better, this silhouette is dated.

This is all jeans. The only difference is the height of the waist and the width of the leg.

Mine come right up to my belly button, and usually slightly over it when I’m sitting. I’m 5’3, 135 lbs, and my jeans are usually from Madewell, Levi’s, or Everlane.
