Yes, that's why Blair famously still has a whites only prom. Oh, wait. That's the South, not Maryland. https://www.publicschoolreview.com/blog/segregated-proms-an-ongoing-controversy-in-georgia It's also why our schools are just as segregated right now as they were when Brown v. Board of Education was decided. Oh, wait. That's the American South. https://www.civilrightsproject.ucla.edu/research/k-12-education/integration-and-diversity/brown-at-60-great-progress-a-long-retreat-and-an-uncertain-future/Brown-at-60-051814.pdf That must be why more than 70 Maryland schools have tried to secede and create smaller, whiter, districts since 2000. Wait. That's the South again. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2018/05/02/back-to-the-future-a-new-school-district-secession-movement-is-gaining-steam/?utm_term=.0a27efe5d23b |
The previous was my first post on the string, please hunt down your conspirators elsewhere. But thanks for proving my point. Forced Busing, class ‘warfare’, race based demogoguery, forced demographic based zoning, all leftist policies and tactics. No?? |
1. No. 2. Also, not being imposed on me. |
"well documented on this board." is not something to be taken seriously. |
The facts of that matter were clear cut and published by the county. There was little room for interpretation. Point being the segregated schools only appear good because they exclude low income students but when you compare comparable SES students they really don't look so great. |
We get it you want to maintain the defacto segregation; however, most reasonable people feel diversity is a strength. |
My point is also clear: if you want to say these documents are well documented, that is fine (people may ask you about the source). But saying "well documented on this board" is more or less meaningless. |
DP. I do not necessarily disagree with that. However, the key is not whether you want to promote diversity, it is how you do it. I consider that (the proper way) more important than diversity. For example, if you have a reasonable method that could get better teachers into the school system without increasing the cost, even if it has nothing to do with promoting diversity, or even if it hurts diversity, I would support that. If, on the other hand, you propose something which I think is unreasonable, even if it helps increase diversity, I would oppose it. |
The SAT averages by high-school arranged by demographic cohort and published by MCPS seems pretty cut and dry. |
‘Diversity is strength’ is mindless rhetoric and means nothing. Institutionalized segregation ended decades ago. People are free to live where they want. Forced busing is hated by everyone rich and poor black and white who had to suffer it. And... it didn’t improve school performance one iota anywhere. Stop dictating policy based on what makes you feel good. |
Nah. And no, people aren't free to live where they want. |
It's also time we address segregation that has existed here for decades. |
You’re a moron, of course they can if they can afford it. |

Does anyone believe a Underperformed student will do better in a school that is more diverse than her/his home school?for example, a white student in C WJHS who got 1 in all subjects in PARCC test will do better in Northwood HS ?
|
Huh. Seems like a big if, there. |
