When are Herndon Middle and Herndon High going to get a break?!??

Bussing is not the optimal solution, but it is the BEST solution UNTIL a new high school is built.

There is busing going on. The Great Falls kids are being bused to Langley.

No. It is not a solution.

So, you take one group that definitely does not want to switch schools and another group which likely does not want to switch, and make them switch schools.

Who benefits?

At least it's a start in the right direction. It's finally time for equity.

Just curious.

Do you really think this will help anyone? Who are you trying to help?

And, FWIW, the drama teacher thing could have happened in any school in the Fairfax County.
I seriously doubt that anyone had any suspicion.

This happened in my neighborhood some years back. Good suburban neighborhood--it was the dad of a little girl who was doing it with her playmates. It was awful, terrible. He went to jail and people recovered. No one had a clue. These guys are slick.

In fact, Langley had a perv teacher just a few years ago: https://wjla.com/news/local/former-va-teacher-accused-of-improper-conduct-with-students-on-trip-to-germany

I don't think bussing Herndon students to Langley makes sense. They could take some impoverished students that go to Marshall and send them to Langley and move McLean students near WolfTrap into Marshall to start.

It appears that the school board will be redistricting with an eye on the new HS that will be built near Dulles. It is my understanding that they currently own a 38 acre parcel their. As a result they will be a shift from Herndon and possibly Chantilly to the new HS. A a result there will be a shift of western GF to Herndon, a shift from MCLean to Langley to accommodate the kids from Tysons that will attend McLean. The school board will be happy to realize the goals of "One Fairfax" in this manner. They intend to create some new postal codes, see page 24 of the school board power point, so they can assert that they are not destroying communities they are simply reassigning base on postal codes. Social engineering plain and simple.

Never realized there were so many crazy Langley posters willing to unleash a word salad and then top it off with random references to “One Fairfax” and “social engineering.”

You do realize that there are three high school boundaries between Herndon and Chantilly? So, this would also affect Westfield, South Lakes, and Oakton boundaries.

And, if the SB thinks that "postal codes" are what determines a community, they need to get out more.

The School Board needs to address these issues promptly and quell the rumors.

Move all of Tysons - McLean and Marshall - to Langley. Balances enrollments and adds diversity to Langley consistent with One Fairfax.

Confirm no one from Langley is moving to Herndon unless/until a new high school is completed.

Relocate some Chantilly Academy programs to Herndon once Herndon expansion completed.

I interpret this differently than you. I think they mean they will take existing codes into consideration. I'm guessing they mean the four digits after the zip?
Seems to me that the elementary schools would be a good starting place to use to determine neighborhoods and communities.

For those interested, I found the power point that PP was referring to at the March 11 work session on boundaries.

Yes. Obviously the School Board has no authority to create new postal codes.

The new high school is 10-15 years away. We need a solution TODAY.

No solution is needed. There is no actual problem, just the feverish delusions of those who want to bus kids all over the place to satisfy their crazy ideological agenda.

It’s OK to bus some kids, just not others, 15 miles to Langley, but crazy to bus kids 5 miles to Herndon?

And let’s not have someone in their Langley bubble decide whether there are problems elsewhere. They are literally the last ones in the county who would know.
