Is FCV St James even participating in DA?

Yes- if you read the FAQ on the St. James website it even lists the cost for regular teams and cost for DA team. ($2895 for DA)

https://www.thestjames.co/files/TheStJames_FC_Virginia__FAQs.pdf

I'll say this. Two DA clubs recently had big announcements. FCV made a formal press release, sent an email to parents, and had a website with FAQ ready to go. Spirit, on the other hand, has still not made any formal press release, and there is no website with any information about the clubs.

Which one seems more organized and better run than the other?

Look under the Spirit thread for the formal letter sent to DA parents this morning. You are way behind the 8 ball in your info.

FCV players are welcome to attend practices this week at Lake Fairfax. Feel free to contact George or Spencer if you want a formal invite.

If you wish to speak to Spencer, he can be found at the St. James.

I knew FCV wouldn’t last. Hard to compete with established club like Loudoun.

Did St James include the 267 and 495 Fast Lane tolls in their DA cost estimates?

Ha! You wish! He was last seen in the evergreen parking lit handing out flyers and talking to future Metro United parents and players wearing outdated 2018-2019 FCV DA gear.

Unlike some of the other attempts at humor, this was good.

Re-read my post. I said Spirit has not made a formal press release, and there is nothing on the Spirit website about the split. Yes, they sent a letter to the parents. But that's it. The Spirit website still has the same DA information page that they've always had. If you were new to that site, you'd have no idea that the MD and VA teams are no longer affiliated with Spirit. There is no website for the new MU DA team, and there is nothing on the Baltimore Armour site about their new girls DA program. Why? Is it really that hard to coordinate (a) a letter to parents, (b) a press release and (c) an update to your website? The fact that Spirit, and the new MD and VA DA clubs, could not coordinate these 3 simple tasks is just par for the course when it comes to the operation of those clubs over the last 2 years, and it does not signal any fresh change going forward.

My daughter plays for WS VA. I was contacted by her coach to personally talk to me about next year several days ago. He was completely transparent about the direction the club was taking.

The WS MD parents have also received info from their DA directors.

Did the FCV coaches do that with their player families?

No. Lots of confusion and concern over here in the Evil Empire. FCV is not well administered or well run. Always great when press releases go out before your coaches and existing players/parent know about it. Also - they made sure to send out offers for next year BEFORE this was announced. See the carpetbagger mentality of that.

Posturing aside, Loudoun has not shown that it is all that capable as a club of having success in the higher age groups and developing significant numbers of high level talent. On the girls side, FCV built a higher level ECNL/DA program -- right under their nose -- over the last 5-10 years and on the Boys side they weren't able to get full DA. So while they may continue to survive due to the fact that they have deep pockets, will continue to have a monopoly on field space, and are the 'de facto' league for Loudoun County kids, they still have to show that they are up for the task.

Thanks for the nothing burger. How bout this?

Loudoun has ECNL and owns their own fields. Line right up folks get your ticket here.

Good luck BRYC Dad facing the best of Loudoun and FCV next year. Just like the good old days!

I understand how this deal may make sense for FCV -- and by FCV, I mean Christian. I don't see what the St James gets out of this? Buying a club from 40ish miles away, whose membership will likely not make that trek. They just made some deal with DC United a couple of months ago and of course they've partnered with NCSL on futsal, etc. Seems like they are flailing around at anything and everything trying to get people in the door. Might be struggling a bit?

Fields, ECNL and subpar training. They'll still struggle against BRYC, McLean, etc.
