I guess we'll see at the spring's tryouts if that's true. FCV can't take everyone.

Arlington and Washington Spirit are the most direct threats to McLean retention/recruiting.

Arlington maybe, except it's a little further to get to, so I guess that's true, but Not Washington Spirit.

In some age groups, a lot more players left for Spirit than for Arlington.

Maybe this year, as I know one whole team followed each other over there, but that's hardly proof of a trend. Washington Spirit has a lot to do before it can be "established" as a talent hub. FCV and Arlington are both better options.

I would encourage everyone to do their own research. Talk to the coaches and technical directors and parents of current team members and decide for themselves what their "best option" is. Also, there are hundreds of pages of discussion on DCUM about the pros and cons of various teams/programs.

Not PP, but it all flows downstream in Mclean. Ask the parents what they think of that 2007 team and some of the parents and the new coach. I imagine players will be leaving for Arlington, or maybe Spirit if they can't make Arlington.

Arlington has a weak 07 team so almost anyone from McLean 07 could "make Arlington"

^^ McLean '07s will then have a good option to get away from all that noise then . . . they can come to Arlington GDA knowing they are locks for roster spots.

Arlington parents going to love that . . .

(That's how GDA is meant to work though. Get used to it Arlington.)

They will probably lose their spots to McLean B and C team players, who will tryout with Arlington because they cannot break into McLean's top team.

Who says some of the B and C team players aren't better than the top team players? That's common at these ages. There shouldn't be a stigma assigned to those players.

MYS has always had sharp drop offs after 1st team, never any depth. While their 1st team players will easily come and take DA spots from the existing bottom half (or more) of Red, and let's hope that happens to concentrate local talent, it is preposterous to think that 2nd or 3rd team MYS players threaten to take over Arlington's Girls DA. There are better players on Arlington's White team that have been overlooked far too long for political reasons - that should hopefully be fixed once DA breaks the cycle that has been going on since U9.

Nahhhh
shit never stops rolling down hill in mclean, don't blame the Ulittle coach. The 07 B/Cs could easily break in and be the rising ecnl team after the WS/Arl. DA drain, no different then the 06 exodus
The club is cursed because it has a disease that everyone there just accepts

What are you talking about? I can't make heads or tails of your post.

^^ Sounds like Arlington wants players maybe.

Why is Mclean Green playing in NCSL for U11 and U12, but Mclean White is playing in CCL2?

Thx I did not realize this, its not on the web site. CCL surely blocked McLean as why would one voluntarily play top teams in NCSL right before the ECNL entry point?
The NCSL schedules&scores are online and it looks like the quality of their competition is basically bottom teams from other clubs with 10-0 scorelines.

I don't know the CCL2 rules, but usually they are open to more clubs as it is a lower level of play.

Doesn’t the top team need to be in CCL and for mclean its ECNL.

Probably has more to do with finding the right fit for green.

Yes McLean wasn't allowed to do CCL because their top team is ECNL, so Green is in CCL2. Which they're doing well in, but its CCL2.

To clarify the confusion:

You do not have to have your top (Green) team be in CCL1 to have your B (White) team play in CCL2. Green U11 and U12 teams are NOT in CCL2. The White teams are in CCL2.

McLean could not get the Green teams into CCL1, so they had no choice but to put them in the next best option, NCSL. The problem with this plan is that NCSL does not have divisions before U13, so you are not getting good competition. Very unmatched and not good for development. BRYC took this approach too at the same price.

Loudoun and Arlington have more clout than McLean, and they were able to keep their top <U13 teams in CCL1 even though they put their best >U13 teams into ECNL/DA.

Above U13 in McLean, you will see Green teams shift to CCL2 because at those levels Green = the B TEAM. Green = the A TEAM below U13 and ideally should not be in NCSL IMO. But McLean does not have the power of larger clubs and had no choice.
