McLean ECNL

Heard a rumor this past weekend that Clyde will retire at the end of this year. Anyone else heard this and think it it anything more than regular nonsense talk? Discuss.

Then they are ahead of most clubs in the area. Good for them

Bethesda does this also. I think several clubs do.

For those currently in McLean on the boys side, what was their experience with ECNL? The additional travel/competition? Considering it for DS as one of the neighboring clubs.

Weather and scheduling aside, it has been pretty good. Would be better if it the best players not in the DA would consolidate at these clubs. NOVA likely needs one more boys ECNL club as well for traveling.

Why is it that McLean ECNL waits to have tryouts in May? They must know a ton of local clubs are having ID sessions this month.

I think it's so they can find out who is doing ID sessions elsewhere. Loyalty card. But then not much loyalty from McLean.

This has nothing to do with loyalty. McLean must know that most players don't have it as their first choice. Having later date tryouts enables them to have better numbers at the tryouts and scoop in good players who did not make it with the top clubs.

They are ID-ing now. You just weren't invited.

^^

Not true. We are at the club with two players and haven't heard a peep.

Why don't you ask them? I am sure there is a reason they chose a specific time period.

Do you want them to recruit harder?

For ECNL, the McLean staff is generally immune to the anxiety that parents and players have as the tryout period approaches for whatever reason. They still do individual ID sessions though. Just get a hold of the coach and they will have you come practice with a team. It allows for a better eval and is what most ID sessions are like at most clubs anyway.

MYS is not having ID sessions.

You can always go practice though.
