McLean ECNL

I don't think the PP was talking about the ECNL staff

Actually, I was. That's why I'm on the ECNL thread. but general comments on the club are always informative too because it speaks to overall club philosophy. The PP who talked about Brent and so forth gave me more information. I really appreciate all the responses too. It's been very informative and I thank all of you.

The 05 group lost almost their entire team from last year between Spirit and Arlington DA, but the new 05 team seems to be doing well-Clyde Watson was still able to recruit a lot of good new talent. The older teams coached by Cindi Harkes and Nadir Moauman do very well consistently. Seems like a good place to be if you want to play on high school and for a solid club team to get exposure to colleges.

I heard the story that the 1st and 2nd teams should have combined to make a big roster for 11v11 at U13 but that there was not enough good players to do that because some players didn't come back for U12 and too many others from both 1st and 2nd team left after U12 in some sort of exodus and either quit soccer or didn't try out for ECNL ..... it was several more then 4 players .... I think its true that too many went to WS and ASA to have enough for an "elite" team.
They played in the second flight this weekend.

Don't the senior ECNL teams have strong coaching. The just won the u18/19 ECNL Champsionship, which included the ECNL national player of the year and several All-ECNL players and a YNT player. Was that Clyde's team?
Anonymous
^^^no, that team is coached by Nadir Moumen.
Anonymous
And PS-the majority of older McLean teams have very few if any girls actually from McLean. They gradually drop off over time.
Anonymous
So are you saying that McLean is better at recruiting than developing?
Anonymous
They probably develop one or two girls on a team from the younger ages, but yes, have strong recruiting power due to Clyde Watson's reputation.

Not sure what you think you heard, but it is typical for most of the ECNL teams not to take more than a small handful from the White team (B team). The vast majority of players that move on to ECNL come from the Green team (A team). At the 06 level, 12 of the original Green players stayed, which is the usual number. They only have 6 more roster spaces from there, 1 of which went to a White team player. The other 5 were recruits from outside or playups from 07. The majority of the original White team went elsewhere, which was the only unusual thing, as many got recruited to DA or Arlington Red, as they happened to have many strong White team players from that age group. But, nothing sinister happened-at most, only 3-4 White team players usually move on to ECNL in any given year.

Not the PP. Not sure what you mean by "original" 06 Green team. While it is true that 12 stayed from last years 06 Green team. Many of those 12 were not on 06 Green the year before. at least 5 members for the 06 Green team from the year before are playing for WS and Arlington now. Both Arlington DA and WS DA also have members of last years 06 White team that did not previously play on Green (Total number of former Mclean players on 06 Arlington DA 3+, Total number of former Mclean players on 06 WS DA 6+, numbers are even higher for 05.)

It sounds like McLean has become a feeder for WS DA in the younger age groups.

Most members of last year's McLean 06 White team (B team), left to play for both Spirit and Arlington DA, as they were not asked to join the McLean ECNL team this year. Not sure what the argument is.

Please stop posting lies. Most of these five opted not to even tryout for McLean ECNL. DA ID sessions were before ECNL tryouts. McLean ECNL offers were/would have been made to some of these players. I'm just trying to correct yours and others "facts". Please ask other parents from this team if you think I am mistaken.

There was not a whole lot of difference between the 06 green and white teams last year.

It was for the 05s, but I think it's a little early to say that's a continual trend. McLean has the virtue of a long history of strong development with excellent coaching, including having developed players into YNT players.

I'm not the one spreading stories. Only ONE of the 06 White players actually made the ECNL team. There is no guarantee that any of the other White players who didn't try out would have been offered a spot.
