So is using that incident to attack an entire club of kids and parents. |
| Again, PDA might be the best team in the country. The club itself is so massive and has so much talent that last year, the A team played ECNL and the B team played DA. This year, the field A & B teams in ECNL and in a few age groups, both teams are on track to qualify for national playoffs. The team that beat Loudon has not lost a game all season. FCV has crushed it in DA and this same team formed the basis of the team that won VA State Cup. Again, Germany crushed Brazil in Rio in 2014. Blowouts happen so no need to over analyzed. FCV lost to a solid team which has destroyed several highly regarded teams. |
Correction: the A team last year played DA and the B team played ECNL. You can tell if you are confused by seeing who is on PDA ECNL blue this year and compare that to the DA roster last year, and see PDA ECNL white this year and last year's ECNL roster. You are correct though on depth. The Jeff Cup of usually sees multiple PDA teams and even their C and sometimes D teams perform well. |
So then PDA had two DA teams at U14 last year? One for the regular u14s and one for the u13 team that created this other DA team? Because the u13 age group is a pilot program for this year. Not saying your wrong. That’s just wild to hear. |
That “incident” was just a public view into what everyone knows is going on at FCV. It’s not being used to attack an entire club of kids and parents. It’s being used to show what we all know- that FCV is an environment where parents and kids are always ready to criticize, blame and attack each other. This time it was the dad of the keeper and the dad of the defender because, after losing both games in shut outs, clearly those two girls were to blame. Stop defending the culture the club has created. |
| It’s children playing soccer. Big scorelines happen. 1 or 2 can turn into 6 or 7 on any given day. There is no doubt that 05 ECNL is really good team but had a bad day like many teams mentioned on this forum have from time to time. I think the issue here is FCV parents going after each other at a club that seems to breed this sort of behavior. The leadership has changed but it is the same FCV despite what their social media might try to tell you. |
| PP here. I meant 05 FCV DA. |
When I see a 7-0 scoreline at U14 the first things that come to mind are either the team played a high line and kept getting hit on the counter, or the team was trying to play out of the back against pressure and kept making mistakes. If the team on the losing end is a team that usually wins a lot, another thing that would come to mind is that they may have given up a few early goals and then lost composure. Does that mean they lack creativity? Maybe. Defending is more about organization than creativity though. As an example if they're getting hit by through balls on the counter attack, because the back line is caught too high upfield when the ball is turned over, the forwards and midfielders aren't getting organized quickly enough to get pressure on the ball, and the backline isn't recognizing the danger and dropping off soon enough - I wouldn't say their problem is lack of creativity. It's not like there are many different ways to solve that particular problem. If the team doesn't know how to deal with that situation, it's the coach's job to teach them. Pure and simple. Agree with you though that games like that can present great learning opportunities. They don't always reflect the true gap between the teams in terms of ability. Sometimes it's just a matter of one team fixing one or two problems and the next time it becomes a totally different game. |
you can't come on here with reasonable material like that. |
I totally agree that defending isn't about being creative. But since I don't prefer the Italian style of play and therefore love the idea of scoring more than my opponent I would say if they are getting countered that often they do lack creativity in possession and attack. Keeping in mind that these are 13 year old kids. One doesn't just start solving problems overnight, which is why a weekend such as that can be a great learning tool. |
Prepare to be slayed by the Lord of the Board!!! FCV's GK clearly lacked creativity and problem solving to let 7 goals in. |
I hear what you're saying, but then again if you don't want to play a defend-deep-and-counter style of play, it's probably a good idea to learn to defend against teams that do. No matter how good you are, you're gonna lose the ball sometimes. But I think the "0" in the scoreline probably reflects the lack of creativity in possession and attack more than the "7" does. |
Actually, according to her dad, it was the fault of the defender. I think everyone who witnessed the “ugly incident” heard that loud and clear. |
| Have any of you seen FCV 05 play? |
It is probably harder to score if you are not in the other teams side of the field. Just a thought. |
