Unless they were national exams, those awards were meaningless. Exams at ND are not at the same rigor as in Harvard or Yale for sure. Why didn't she apply for Harvard or Yale? For religious reasons?

Notre Dame is a top 25 law school with an excellent reputation for a traditional, rigorous education. No one graduates from there with a perfect 4.0. No one. Except, of course, for Amy Coney Barrett, who went on to clerk for Justice Scalia and who had 27 fellow law clerks -- many of who went to Harvard and Yale and most of whom were liberal -- attesting to her brilliance and integrity.

Say what you want about the woman. But she's brilliant, without question.

Yale accepts 10% of its applicants while ND accepts 36%. ND is not a top 20 law schools. ND is clearly a second-tier law school.

Also - to the person arguing that ND is just as good as Yale and that admissions rates don’t tell the whole story. ND is second tier. Everyone knows it. Even the pool of applicants is much weaker at ND, let alone the acceptance rate. Doesn’t mean that ABC isn’t smart, but her legal education was at a second tier place.

Former Catholic/pro-choice person here as well. I feel squeamish about calling it a "cult" and suggesting that anyone's creed disqualifies them from public office. But asking her how her religious beliefs impact her decisions is totally fair game, given that she has WRITTEN LAW REVIEW ARTICLES saying that Catholic judges should recuse themselves from certain cases. I think that's different from focusing on the aspects of her faith that seem different to us.
