Comparison of Kate and Meghan’s wedding dresses

I like Kate's dress better, but I'm also a stuffy, classic person.

I aspire to be like Meghan, and look beautifully put together and elegant AND young and up to date.

I am very happy Meghan choose a sleek, unadorned, style. It suits her perfectly. That's what I thought she should wear.

However! It does not seem to be properly fitted - perhaps she lost a little weight. The heavy fabric doesn't sit that well on her small frame - I would have gone with a lighter silk, perhaps weighing the ends. I am also not fond of the clash of different whites (shoes, dress and veil). I also wish she had not chosen such a delicate veil, or had a veil at all, because it is not in keeping with the dress.

But overall, a much better choice, for her, than anything with lace or ruffles.

I agree. The minimalist dress should have had a minimalist veil.

The minimalist dress should have been perfectly fitted. It wasn't. Loved the dress, wish it fit her perfectly like Kate's did (even though I didn't care for that dress).

No. Kate’s has cone boobs. Hopefully that is not a perfect fit.

I disagree. I think the combination of the dress and veil made the outfit...the veil dressed up the plain dress just enough, and it was modern/unconventional in that the veil was longer than the dress.
This, and the incredible filligree diamond tiara and bracelet, looked incredible together. I also liked how her flowers had a touch of lime in them that echoed her mom's and the Queen's colors. I just wish her hair hadn't come out of place.

Can we talk about the choir? They all looked and sounded phenomenal!

+ 1

Plus, in some photos, the top/sleeves looked too big. Very disappointing!

she had a horrible last 10 days and probably like a lot of brides lost more weight in the final days than the seamstress could keep up with. It happened to me too!

Do you still think so? It’s 1980s meringue.

NP. I was 8yrs old when Charles and Diana got married and I thought it was the ultimate in princess, fairytale wedding dresses. Most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Now I find it very dated to the 80s but still amazing for what it was.

NP. I still adore Diana's dress -- the luxurious fabric that shimmered! The detailing! The bows and lace! Still adore it.

You probably like powder blue tuxes and crushed velvet, too

Yeah, but what did you think of the dress

Men don't spend $100,000 plus on a suit.

Thank you! And yes, the level of crazy detail was what I meant to get at. Who cares if Meghan wore her hair up or down or sideways? Or if the bodice was too loose? Did you pay for the dress? NO. So shut up already!

I think she could have stuck to $10K or less for a dress and used the rest for charity.

The dress is pretty but could have been done exactly the same way for a fraction, and the rest would be them putting their money where their mouths are.

It would buy a really nice watch though ...

By that logic, they should give away all of their money and live on whatever the average British HHI is. Or maybe even on the lowest possible income someone could manage without being on government programs themselves. They were never going to give away that money; they were going to spend it or save it.

They do give to charity, and they use their "star power" to get others to give to charities, but there is no sense in which the royals are some kind of self-martyring socialists!

I was thinking the same thing while watching it! Who were their stylists and make up artists?!

I liked Meghan’s dress much better.

I guess I expected more from Kate’s dress, then was disappointed when I saw it because it didn’t live up to all the hype that surrounded it.
While a pretty enough dress, it seemed a little too simple.

Meghan’s dress is more modern + stylish in my personal opinion.
Plus I think she is more attractive than Kate, so that makes a difference too in comparison.

She doesn’t look a day over twenty-six.

I prefer Meghan's dress to Kate's dress but that doesn't mean Kate didn't look great on her wedding day.
