We are doing something wrong to women in our homes.

The real issue is you women treat your little boys like entitled kings, so why shouldn't they expect the same from your future daughters-in-law?

Think about it.

What does that have to do with more equal pay in Iceland and Ireland?

Um, how we parent our children has consequences, no?

You are a very bitter and lonely person. She has apparently missed out on the whole little princess theme of daughters, they should be treated that way. The only problem is some, like you, never grow up and blame everything else for your short comings.

Why not address how you're teaching your son to respect you and other women and girls?

Apparently you are looking for the source of your failures in life. Pathetic and sad. Worry about yourself, you clearly have problems.

Keep being defensive.

They don't operate on intellect, they react of feelings.

And yes, there is a natural and biological proclivity for that stay at home parent to be the woman. You can argue whether that is right or wrong, but the data support that conclusion.

Why is it considered "equality in retreat" if a woman wants to stay home with her kids? My wife was raised by a single professional woman and had a successful professional career herself. And now she is out of the workforce, as a stay at home parent. That hardly puts her in retreat or gender inequality.

The issue with that is that most men don't make enough to support a SAHM.

I also have yet to see a SAHM/ working man relationship that was equal. The SAHM's DH is let off from doing anything. DH and I both work and my DH does 10x more than the husbands of the SAHMs I know and they're bitter about it. The men think that just because they work, they shouldn't do anything at home, which I think gives children the wrong message.

You post didn't address his point why is a womans choice to be a sahm considered retreat. Her ability and opportunity is not a retreat. Womens labor participation has been steadily dropping for years. "DH is let off from doing anything" ....you clearly have some axe to grind that has nothing to do with reality. One person working to support a family is far from not doing anything. Basic common sense tells you the one at home should be handling the home in a stay at home situation. Speaking of giving children the wrong message your sweeping negative generalizations against men, including brushing aside supporting, housing and feeding a family as nothing, says the message you are sending is far from right.

Well said.

Not defensive at all, just addressing a lonely bitter middle aged man hater that assumes parents don't teach boys respect. It must suck to be you

It doesn’t require intellect or emotion to understand that men commit the vast majority of crimes in the world. Just watch cable news. It’s not emotion but instead a realization that men have a major problem. They seem very prone to violence and other offenses such as sexual harassment.

You can only fight Mother Nature so long. Eventually Mother Nature assumes control.

Umm, ok, go on. Point to evidence of something. Are children raised more spoiled here than there? Then what?

When children learn to respect others, they are more likely to become better adults. Agreed?

Look at actresses in the UK. There are many, many relatively normal looking women. In the US you must be a sex goddess.

Very good point. Appearance standards for young women are higher in the US now than they were 20-30 years ago. Young girls feel like they gave to look "perfect".

No they aren't, not even close. Look at the sheer number of obese women and girls it high hand keeps climbing. Female appearance 'standards" in the US are very low compared to the rest of the world.

Look at photos of celebrities from the 80's and 90's, particularly young women, and compare them with their current counterparts. Katie Holmes vs. Bella Hadid. The cast of 90210 vs. the cast of Riverdale. Teen girls today are fangirling celebrities with cosmetic dentistry, hair extensions, perfectly skinny yet muscled bodies, and high-end designer clothes. Teen celebrities 30 years ago were slender and pretty, but with soft bodies, natural features, and obtainable hair. Oh, and obesity is pretty much unacceptable if you're higher SES.

No. Show your fcking work. Are kids less respectful in this country than in others? Are adults worse in this country than in Sweden? If so, why is pay less equal?

Yes, I do think that traditionally Europeans are more respectful of each other than Americans are.

It doesn't require intellect or emotion to realize that men have created virtually every advancement known. I watched cable news this morning, what I saw was a group of men pullin a woman and her infant from roof by helicopter while your fat ass was still in bed. To claim "very" prone is nonsense, you are simply a sad lonely woman projectng. Your very prone is simply nonsense, statistics and reality for that matter are not your strong point. I would venture to say you dont have one. According to Dept of Health and Human Services data, children abused by one parent , the mother was the abuser in 70.6% of cases. Of the children murdered by a parent the child ewas murdered by their mother in 70.8% of the cases, with boys being the victim 60% of the time.

Perhaps you should teach women to stop abusing and murdering their child since they are overwhelmingly predeposed to be child killers. Most people teach their children to be respectful (with the likely exception of your parents) if mommy doesnt murder them first.

Why are books and movies like that stupid 50 Shades of Grey so popular with women? They fantasize about rescuing a billionaire sadist who was supposedly abused by his mother's friend. In the 3rd installment, the ypung heroine becomes a pregnant and powerful MRS Sadist Grey, after she submitted to Mr. Grey in the first movie by being a masochist to his sadism.
