Teen daughter wants her rhinoplasty soon. How young is too young?

I think orthodontists can tell when bones stop growing by xray. You want to be sure bones stopped growing.

I should have added I heard 16 is youngest many years ago.

The internalized misogyny is astounding. The number of women who believe they look “wrong” and are willing to do horrible things to their perfectly healthy bodies is sickening. Meanwhile men just shrug, shave and go on with their lives.

Males get nose jobs too. All the time.

Like 90 some percent of nose jobs are women.

No girl wants that, we always hated it and the second we could, all the girls rushed to correct. It doesn't make us look any whiter, we still love our black hair, thick eyebrows and olive skin, but an authentic Armenian nose, no thank you, keep it, I'll take my smaller straight one now. Stop with shaming people for wanting to improve their appearance.

Sounds to me like you are just trying to fit into the white Western European society to climb the social ladder.

Yo moron, all the big-nosed girls in Armenia hated their schnobels fifty years ago when they had no idea what the white Western European society was like. Difference was their generation couldn't correct it, and ours can. So we do.

Oh, is it is OK when a white Western European person gets a nose job? Then it's OK?

You think people 50 years ago didn’t know what white Western European beauty was? In the US? In 1971?

I don't know if it's misogyny but I do find it terrible how many people are eager to erase a natural characteristic. People look different. That gives them character. Those examples a PP above posted -- maybe the girls look more WASP pretty, but they looked perfectly fine before and regardless, they looked how they're supposed to look. I rank nose jobs up there with Korean eyelid surgery or, as another PP suggested, a Black child wanting to lighten their skin. Terrible.

I had a friend who used to comment on guys' noses. "Cute but a Jewish nose." I am Jewish. I don't get offended all that easily but yeah, that was offensive. There is nothing wrong with an "ethnic" look of any kind. We are not all meant to be WASPs with tiny straight noses. Have some pride in your heritage, for goodness sake.

I can’t imagine living in a community where plastic surgery in teens is so common there is a “typical” age for it!

lol @ the idea that men don't have all sorts of body issues.

I got mine at 15. I have no regrets. I'm almost 50 now and have never gotten cosmetic surgery again, I barely wear make up and I don't do botox. But I'm really really happy with my nose. Best decision ever.

92 % of plastic surgery procedures are performed on women so whatever guys struggle with they don’t cut themselves up to “fix” it.

I’d let my HS do it if she wanted. I have friends who wished they’d done it when they were younger. FWIW I had a cosmetic surgery that greatly improved my self confidence and consider it money very well spent. If you have something you don’t like, fix it!

Blame the US film industry - which makes 80% of the movies the world sees and the actresses with teeny tiny noses who star in them.

There's nothing to fix. You aren't broken if your nose is big or your ass is fat or your boobs are small.

Was it not weird coming back to school obviously having had plastic surgery? I don't know anyone who did this (that I'm aware of) and I feel like it would have been obvious.

One of my friends had it done in college, freshman year. She looked much better but it was not obvious and I couldn't tell what was changed until she told me. IMO, the trick is to keep the same shape. I think these are great examples

I honestly think they all look beautiful and perfectly fine in the before pics. I even think it looks better than the after. Those all
Look like plastic made noses.
