No girl wants that, we always hated it and the second we could, all the girls rushed to correct. It doesn't make us look any whiter, we still love our black hair, thick eyebrows and olive skin, but an authentic Armenian nose, no thank you, keep it, I'll take my smaller straight one now. Stop with shaming people for wanting to improve their appearance.

Sounds to me like you are just trying to fit into the white Western European society to climb the social ladder.

Yo moron, all the big-nosed girls in Armenia hated their schnobels fifty years ago when they had no idea what the white Western European society was like. Difference was their generation couldn't correct it, and ours can. So we do.

Oh, is it is OK when a white Western European person gets a nose job? Then it's OK?

You're awesome! Preach!

Was it not weird coming back to school obviously having had plastic surgery? I don't know anyone who did this (that I'm aware of) and I feel like it would have been obvious.

It was obvious. But that's okay.

People in my high school used to say they had deviated septum surgery. My mom (who was very petty) explained to me that that was a ruse.

I think the summer between HS and college is a good time to get it, but if she has a really bad nose like I did, then the sooner, the better IMO. I scrimped and saved to do it at 22, but wish my parents paid for it when I was ~16.

Had a friend who did it winter break in 7th grade. She said she broke her nose but everyone knew. It was kind of weird.

Most of my other friends did it in the 17-18 range. I think summer before college is the perfect time.

Wow. I don’t know a single person who got a nose job in high school or college; lived in an affluent UMC area.

Whenever she is ready, and her doctor thinks its a good time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a nose job, i'm persian and TONS of girls do it-- before college is ideal but also prior to sr. year where you have prom, sr photos etc.

This is strictly your opinion, formed by the community around you, which is rhinoplasty-obsessed.

Probably because you are a WASP.

Like all cosmetic surgery, it is a question to be answered by the doctor taking into account all factors - of which they are rather knowledgable. The main issue, obviously, is that everyone's face will change shape as they grow, and whether the procedure would be better off being delayed until physical maturity is basically complete. For a girl that would typically be in the high school years 16/17.

Once you actually dive into the process -- and it is a great thing to get your kid actively involved in -- I am sure they too will understand the issues. In particular -- get them involved in doctor selection and the financing/insurance issues. It will be a good introduction to these "grown up" issues in an area that affects them personally while not an emergency.

I had mine done at 20 year old over winter break. No regrets. I had a broken nose in elementary school which never healed correctly.

the recovery sucks.

I’m white. But not a WASP. This was in the Midwest

But you do understand that the dr doing the surgery has the best interest in making money off you. As long as he isn’t going to get sued for malpractice or negligence, he doesn’t care

I had a nose job when I was 16 years old. I always hated my nose and it made a huge difference in my self confidence. I'm grateful my parents let me have the surgery in high school rather than waiting until college.

What a loser you are-- there is nothing wrong with any procedure that you do safely and makes you feel more confident.

There is always risk of death when you undergo general anesthesia. It's small, but you still roll the die. It's not nothing, you have a breathing tube for crying out loud.
