Be honest - how often do you bathe your kids?

This is nasty. Many a baby can be wiped down every other day but EVERYBODY else needs their butt washed in water! A ten year old? - you are trifling and teaching kids to be nasty.

The body isn't supposed to be washed every day. There are good and bad bacteria on your skin, as well as protective oils, wash these away and your body over compensates. Every other day is all anyone needs to bathe, especially if you are using antibacterial soaps, which help to create super bugs.

This is exactly why I dislike sleepovers and office potlucks. You never know who has washed what when.

1. Sunscreen is non-negotiable ESPECIALLY if they have fair skin - ask your doctor.
2. The midday sun is most damaging to the skin. Vitamin D can be made with early morning or late afternoon exposure.
3. I trust you meant a shower AFTER the pool, to rinse off the chlorine which irritates skin and hair.

Please, for your children's sake, inform yourself better. Skin cancer 40 years from now is not a joke.

What a hoot. We don't use a doctor except in rare circumstances. And anyway, he is the last person I would trust to know what chemicals are in sunscreens these days or about kids true nutritional needs. New research is now showing that it is precisely the midday sun that we need MOST to produce a range of vitamin D in our bodies, although I do agree with popular wisdom that it is not healthy for children (or adults) to develop a sunburn - which is why sun exposure is limited.

I hope you are kidding

As you wish my friend. We are still talking about children right?

Seriously!! And do people use antibacterial soaps to bathe their children? Seriously???!!!!

People do use antibacterial soaps on their children, why I don't know, but they do. The good bacteria takes longer to grow on the body, and that's part of the reason super bugs are becoming so common.

Potlucks I can understand, you never know who has rats and roaches. Children who haven't had a bath for a day are not filthy, nor will they give you the plague.

It can take longer to fill the tub than to give a kid a quick bath. Sometimes you need to skip the playtime and get in and out.

One day no a pattern of one day intervals is a problem. Maybe it's normal for some households but since when is bathing everyday not the norm?

Since when are small children cooking food for a pot luck?

That's how I bathe my kids (not that this thread is about anything practical anymore). It takes less than ten minutes from beginning to end. It can't be a long, fun bath every night.

It's been the norm longer than bathing every day. DH had really bad skin, a combination of eczema and acne and his dermatologist told him that bathing daily causing both conditions to flare up. The doctor said it was about having a balance of good and bad bacteria and keeping essential oils on the body.

I say my grace before I eat at a restaurant I use my eyes in the restroom at work when I see you go in and run out and then bring a dish.
