I have a 3-year-old and only bathe her twice a week, if she has not been outside on the playground or has otherwise gotten dirty or sweaty.
What's the norm? |
every night for the 2.5 year old. the 5 year old gets one 5 or 6 nights a week (more if he's stinky). |
mostly every other night but in the summer we have done almost every night since she gets sweaty. |
every night. But I'm weird like that (and only use soap 2-3 times a week, unless there are serious dirt issues, which admittedly happens pretty often). Kids are 4 and almost 2. |
every night. kids are 6,4 and2. |
Every other night for my 11 month old. We, or should I say, I, am pretty much a homebody though. When we do go out to stores or are around lots of other people, I always think - "bath tonight!" |
New mom here. So what do you do, just rinse? I know you probably don't want to dry out kids skin with soap, but how do you really clean them if you aren't using soap? Any alternatives? |
I only bathe if we were playing in the mud or there was a serious germ issue. Otherwise once every 2-3 days...in winter 1x every 4 days. Why so seldom? My kids are babies, twins and I am alone 5 days a week. Also, I don't think the bathing products (soaps, shampoos) on the market are not too healthy. Two of my sibblings died from cancer as did my dad, so I want to lessen my use of bathing products. |
kids are 6 & 8 - usually only get baths once or twice a week. More often if they have sunscreen/bug spray, etc. They used to have baths far more frequently when they were younger, although I don't really know why - spit up and baby poo I guess. They don't get very dirty sitting at school all day. |
I bathe my five-year-old every night, but only wash her hair every other night.
|
1 yo and 2 yo - Every single night unless we didnt leave the house that day and they didnt make a mess of themselves which. In the winter months - I shoot for every other day unless they went to a playdate or indoor play area - I bathe them as soon as we get home before their nap.
It is just habit now and as they got older they get messier - at least in this house. My son is a neat eater but my daughter is the sloppiest/messiest eater ever otherwise since she is the baby it would be every other day. |
every night. some nights are quick baths other nights are longer. Kids are 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 |
what does bathing has to do with cancer? ![]() |
It's funny, now that my kids are older, they bathe more often. When they were babies and toddlers, just every other day or every two days. I felt that bathing them too much washed off the good protective skin cells off their body (call me weird). They are 4 and 6 now and get a bath or shower almost every day in the summer (due to more of their bodies exposed, sunscreen, pool time, bug spray; every other day in the winter. I actually feel that since they are in school with other kids, I WANT to bathe them more to get all the bugs they've been exposed to all day long off their bodies. I too only used soap every other time - they just rinse with water. My dd's hair gets washed once or twice a week. |
Every 3 nights - kids are 2 & 4. Used to do every night then realized that it wasn't necessary & just habit. The 2yo gets dry/irritated skin so I figure this is better for him. |
