This is a great initiative that generated over $80K for a great school that provides free tuition and paid internships to students.

There is no free tuition at Cristo Rey. The families pay part, the employer where the student works an internship one day a week pays part and a small part is scholarship. These kids work really hard. No handouts.

False. Some PTOs (which spend hundreds of thousands each year at their own schools) donate some of their funds (<5%) to other PTOs. That's frankly still pretty fraught but a long, long way from rich tweens having an extravagant party "to benefit" another school like baby socialites.
