Wow, do you live inside the station? Do you also work as a station attendant at Gallery Place?

jealous much!

that you live in a subway tunnel? Definitly not.

Sorry, you feel the need to demean others because your commute sucks.

My commute involves walking to my home office, shower optional. I'm most definitely not jealous that you take the metro daily-LOL!

The train takes exactly 18min from TS to GP, so why is it demeaning that I assume you live in the tunnel? When i take the metro (i live in Chevy Chase a stones throw from Friendship Heights metro), i still have to walk to the metro, get in the station and wait for the train. I then have to get off the train, out of the station and walk to my destination.

Ding ding ding. As I said before- people have a way of selectively clocking their commute time. yeah, if I only count the time literally on a metro train, my commute is only 15 minutes.
My commite via subway from Takoma to GP is 16 mins according to Google maps. I live less than a 2 minute walk from the station and work a half block from GP. On a really bad day it takes 20 minutes., but 18 seems right when I hustle :p

Amazing that metro is so timely that you can literally walk out of your apartment (well sprint really) and end up on the platform in 120 seconds just as the doors open.

Hardly, I just used this magical thing called google maps to plan my commute. You should check it out.

25 minutes if I leave at 7am from McLean (near McLean High) to my office (1 block from WH). 40 -45 minutes if I leave at 725 am, drop kids and then go to the office. Closer to 1hour if I leave after 740am. Return is anything from 30-45 minutes but usually closer to 30 since I leave at 5pm. Metro is 50 minutes round trip on a good day.

You need google maps to sprint 120 seconds to the metro?

Also, I'm curious, how much is station operator paying these days at Gallery place?

You must have a real crappy commute to be so bitter. I'll be thinking of you on my under 20 minutes from TKPK to downtown D.C.

Pro-Commuter-Tip: Google Maps uses the Metro train schedules, this makes it possible to minimize station downtime.

This is a common refrain from someone who bought an overpriced townhouse in the city.

Says the person who has a 30 min commute from Potomac to the Hill.

Rockville to Penn Quarter. 1 hour and 10 minutes. Driving/metro/walking. A bad day on metro can be LONG!
When I drive it is also about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Anonymous wrote:funny, I always see posts on DCUM boasting about the commutes from NoVA to downtown and I knew they had to be lying. This thread proves me right. "Vienna/McLean/Arlington is an easy commute" clearly total b.s.

I don't think anyone ever said Vienna is an "easy" commute. Certainly easier than commuting from BFE, but that's not saying much.

Today i hauled ass because i was late for a meeting and the traffic gods were in my side. Didn't hit the breaks a single time. 17min drive time.

Not possible. Every road coming out of Ashburn in the morning rush is a cluster.

South Riding/Loudoun County to Tysons Corner: ~45 minutes in the morning after daycare drop-off (daycare is 6 minutes door to door), an hour to daycare from the office if I leave around 4:30.

Lower McLean ; usually about 30-40 minutes to Chinatown part of downtown driving

not everyone has the "luxury" of living so close to a methadone clinic

I lived in Hyattsville, on Michigan and committed downtown every day to Metro Center. It took me 45 minumum. You are lying.

Another Hyattsville resident. I commute to Connecticut Ave at 7am. Takes 15-18min driving. At 8am it takes 35 min.

No freaking way, unless you're leaving before 6 am after 9 pm. More like an hour to an hour and a half each way

I bet it would take 30min at 2am on a sunday even taking falls to clara barton then all the way down to the G-town expressway.
