No freaking way, unless you're leaving before 6 am after 9 pm. More like an hour to an hour and a half each way

I bet it would take 30min at 2am on a sunday even taking falls to clara barton then all the way down to the G-town expressway.

Nope, https://www.google.com/maps/dir/39.0004651,-77.2298614/2000+K+St+NW,+Washington,+DC+20006/@38.9512487,-77.1731929,13z/data=!4m17!4m16!1m5!3m4!1m2!1d-77.1176827!2d38.9375233!3s0x89b7ca09b97f7f43:0xbf899bedf7dc1a49!1m5!1m1!1s0x89b7b7b0ab45d765:0x293f25c451860bd5!2m2!1d-77.0452258!2d38.9021292!2m2!7e2!8j1487747400!3e0

You just posted your address (which is in Rockville)

Not in Rockville, despite what Google says. Zip is 20854. Idiot. May or may not be my home.

You prefer I66 over 123/Parkway? I have a similar commute and take 123/parkway. It takes about the same amount of time.

Yes. The parkway would take an hour fifteen minutes on a bad day. That rarely happens on I66. And I66 even gets me to me office in under 30 minutes during rush hour some days thanks to the HOV restriction.

This is a common refrain from someone who bought an overpriced townhouse in the city.

People do this all the time! It's so annoying. My friend used to say she had a 30 minute commute all the time. I stayed with her for a week while our floors were getting refinished. Every morning she would leave at 7am to be at work by 8am. One day she was freaking out at 7:10am about how she was going to late for a meeting (8am) and couldn't even finish her cup of coffee.

This was last year. A couple weeks ago I saw her at a dinner party and she was saying "oh yeah, the commute's only about 30 minutes! It's great!" I guess it all depends on perspective. I would shoot myself if I had to drive an hour every morning and evening. Maybe that's why so many people lie to themselves about this?

There's a difference between a commute being 30 minutes ON AVERAGE and needing to be at work by a certain time for a meeting. My commute is 40 minutes on average but it could be well over an hour on a bad day. But I usually don't have to be at work by a set time.

I hope the guy doesn't delete this thread. There was a great one in August - same topic - gone.

Completely agree. I live in Dupont, was once fighting traffic to get from 16th to Connecticut. I took me 10 minutes and 2 lights to get through 3 blocks. SMH.

funny, I always see posts on DCUM boasting about the commutes from NoVA to downtown and I knew they had to be lying. This thread proves me right. "Vienna/McLean/Arlington is an easy commute" clearly total b.s.

I am 15 min closer to DC along MacArthur/Clara Barton than the Potomac Village poster - it takes me 40 min during rush hour to get downtown so that poster's 35 min commute is a fantasy unless it is off rush hour.

You can try to cover up your lapse in judgment any way you want. There's an idiot here, and it isn't me.

Potomac to Tysons - 25 to 35 min in the AM; 45 to an hour in the PM

1 hr door to door from Rockville to Judiciary Square area - combination of walkng and Metro. I could probably do it in 50 minutes but I have my kid with me and she walks a lot slower than I do.
Anonymous
Rockville (Norbeck area) to College Park anywhere from 35-50 minutes (or more) depending.
Anonymous
Clarksburg to Germantown: 10 minutes if I hit all of the lights, but more like 15 minutes on most days.
Anonymous
Darnestown to "downtown" Rockville. 8 miles and 25-30 minutes. Ugh!

Wow, do you live inside the station? Do you also work as a station attendant at Gallery Place?

jealous much!

that you live in a subway tunnel? Definitly not.

Sorry, you feel the need to demean others because your commute sucks.

My commute involves walking to my home office, shower optional. I'm most definitely not jealous that you take the metro daily-LOL!

The train takes exactly 18min from TS to GP, so why is it demeaning that I assume you live in the tunnel? When i take the metro (i live in Chevy Chase a stones throw from Friendship Heights metro), i still have to walk to the metro, get in the station and wait for the train. I then have to get off the train, out of the station and walk to my destination.

Ding ding ding. As I said before- people have a way of selectively clocking their commute time. yeah, if I only count the time literally on a metro train, my commute is only 15 minutes.
My commite via subway from Takoma to GP is 16 mins according to Google maps. I live less than a 2 minute walk from the station and work a half block from GP. On a really bad day it takes 20 minutes., but 18 seems right when I hustle :p
