FOR SURE!

When I first read this, I read it as 15K and I was thinking that even seemed fine but maybe even a little high and weird to think someone would have an expectation for a. I do have to giggle at the responses of "I thought my ring of $___ was high" because they are.

I'm unclear from the OP. Does this friend currently have a suitor that has the means for this and this is what she expects from him? Or is it just a general requirement for anyone she might happen to marry someday?

If the latter then she should be aware that men that can afford $150,000 rings can also afford younger prettier women on which to place that ring. Late 30's? Like someone is going to spend six figures on a 15 year old Mazda as opposed to a shiny new Mercedes AMG GT.

She said that if she doesn't get what she wants then she won't go through with the engagement. I understand in some income circles that 150k engagement ring is the norm. However, I want to know your thoughts. Thanks.

She's crazy.

Are you?

Love how OP talks about herself in the third person "my friend" stuff.

Loudon county, wealthy family, rich McLean and stuff.

Yeah, that's how life works.

Can't believe we are still talking about engagement rings of any size and price. So 90s.

Guess not.
