Not if you have off street parking.

And how many DC homes have off street parking? Very few. Unless you are one of those garbage people that dump some gravel on their lawn and park in your front yard. PP's a compulsive liar.

-Nanny/babysitter/carpool with the driver being from Md.
-Lazy parents: move from Md to DC, too lazy to actually change registration.
-Split home: mom has primary custody of kids, but dad drops kids off on Mondays/ picks up on Friday (etc)
-Relitives: grandma decides to drop grand kids off once and a while. Etc.
-Actual cheaters coming in from Virginia.

When my DS was a student at Walls, he often got a ride from a family friend who lives just across the line, and who worked two blocks from the school. It was easy, and we lived in DC, but he would be dropped off from a car with Md plates. The horror!

I'm calling shenanigans on this one. Unless you have off street parking, DC parking enforcement will issue a ticket for having an out of states licensee plate within a month or two of moving. I joke about how DC parking enforcement is the only efficient governmental department.

We have off-street parking, and husband is never giving up his MD plates. MD license registration is far cheaper and more efficient than DC. I wish I had never given up my FL plates, but I was a sucker back then. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't.

That's your choice, but then don't complain if you are investigated for residency fraud.

Or for violating DC's ROSA (registration of out of state vehicles law). And when you get in an accident, and your insurer notices that you really live in DC, they'll deny coverage.

Already had my accident, didn't happen. Insurance company handled the claim. Stop making things up. I have GEICO if that makes a differnce.

Pp you're a liar and a cheater and you've got a flaky retort for everything. I feel sorry for the children being raised by scofflaws like you--and I wouldn't want to send my child to a school filled with parents that think the laws don't apply to them.

You never know. Is your child in a HRCS often talked about on DCUM. If so, your child is in attendance with mine. Dont get upset with me and call me childish names. I am not a liar simply because my personal experiences do not align with your views.

Scofflaw is not a childish name. It describes people who violate laws and rules and don't have any respect for the letter and SPIRIT of the law. And a liar is a person like you that just makes up bullshit stories to cover for their scofflaw ways.

Um, what story did I make up? No, if I had to do it all over again, I would not have relinquished my FL plates. And yes, I understand and support DH in not relinquishing his MD plates. DC needs to stop raping its citizens with its excessive fees. If other states can figure out a way by not having exhorbitant fees and excessive tests every other year, DC can damn well figure out how to do it. As for name calling, Bless your heart.

Where is your evidence of this? On the VA and MD fora I don't see anyone complaining about DC license plates at drop off or pick up. While it may happen once in awhile, there are several reasons NOT to assume it happens equally. It's much more clearly an issue for DC schools than it is for VA and MD schools.

Now you are indicating how stupid you really are. Where exactly in the city do you live that you don't know that many people have off street parking. Here is a clue, some of us actually have garages.

This varies dramatically by neighborhood - I live over by RFK, and off-street parking is extremely common in my neighborhood.

DC has an elected govt, if the voters of DC dislike the fees enough they can change them. You do not get to decide what fees to pay any more than you get to decide what taxes to pay, or what traffic laws to obey.

BTW thousands of people manage to pay those fees and to take those tests. If they can figure out a way, you can damn well figure out how to do it. Perhaps if you cannot, you should not live in DC.

And yes, your husband is a scofflaw.

Folks in Va are too busy complaining about people from Central America.

I sure hope you are not one of the motorists complaining about scofflaw cyclists

Help me understand the correlation.

It is common for motorists to complain about cyclist behavior (OMG! They run stop signs!) It is my belief that most motorists who do so complain routinely violate traffic laws themselves (for example there is no provision in the law that says driving only 3MPH over the speed limit is "okay") but are simply not aware that the distinction they make between their own (perfectly reasonable, everybody does it) violation and the violations by those hipster lycra clad Lance wannabes is purely due to the "windshield perspective"

You sir, are a motorist commiting a violation that outrages even most motorists in DC. I hope you exercise due humility in calling out others as "scofflaws".

I see, you just learned a new word, "scofflaw", and you want to use it in your sentences. Bless you. I doubt very seriously that most motorists in DC care about what license plates other DC residents have or do not have. Your opinion and a few others on DCUM does not make it "most". Haha, I know people like you that thinks your opinions are godly. They are not. Your mother should have told you that the world does not revolven around you and your thoughts.

As to cyclist, eh. I also bike, but I follow the law so I do have issues with cyclist who are asking to be road kill.

And...interestingly enough...scofflaw was an SAT word last year.

I have known the word scofflaw since I was a teen, and I have grey hair.

I would suspect its citizens of DC (over a third of whom do not own cars) who dislike that you do not pay your fees. But especially those who do own cars and who DO pay their fees.

My mother may she rest in peace told me that there are lots of people in the world who will get away with whatever they can. She did not tell me the extent to which they will try to justify it.

Of course its quite easy to violate the letter of the law without putting oneself in danger. Being reckless and being a scofflaw are two different things.

You are no better than a mugger or burglar coming here and boasting of getting away with it. I hope your precious car gets stolen.

Since 1958 DC's zoning has required every new house to have off-street parking.

WTF are you talking about? PP isn't a liar, but I am worried that you are blind.
