Um, what story did I make up? No, if I had to do it all over again, I would not have relinquished my FL plates. And yes, I understand and support DH in not relinquishing his MD plates. DC needs to stop raping its citizens with its excessive fees. If other states can figure out a way by not having exhorbitant fees and excessive tests every other year, DC can damn well figure out how to do it. As for name calling, Bless your heart.

DC has an elected govt, if the voters of DC dislike the fees enough they can change them. You do not get to decide what fees to pay any more than you get to decide what taxes to pay, or what traffic laws to obey. BTW thousands of people manage to pay those fees and to take those tests. If they can figure out a way, you can damn well figure out how to do it. Perhaps if you cannot, you should not live in DC.

And yes, your husband is a scofflaw.

I already have. Sue me.

You are no better than a mugger or burglar coming here and boasting of getting away with it. I hope your precious car gets stolen.

Hehehe. That's what insurance is for. You are so funny. Love it.

I am sure you will be indifferent to having your car stolen. Not.

First, you are a royal biatch and piece of crap to wish that on someone, so that says a lot about what kind of person you are.
Two, this is DC and I live in an area where the houses are selling for just over 750,000 and I have already had a burglary. It's not Palisades, but it's not Congress Heights either. although, I have been informed that Palisades have plenty of burglaries. I seemed to have gotten over it with something more valuable than an automobile being stolen. If you allow yourself to get attached to a car PP you have some serious issues. That's why I pay GEICO. The car can be replaced.

Yep. But the point is (and this thread has wandered a bit off-topic) that some blithely assert that they really live in DC but choose to leave their cars registered in Maryland. Not only would this be in violation of DC law but it probably violates the car insurer's terms of coverage. The result could be, if the car is stolen, that the insurer denies coverage for the car because the insured has misstated his/her residence to the insurer. Presumably DC, as a stand- alone city, has a higher cost risk pool than Maryland.

I am not a scofflaw. And of course what I wish is for you to punished appropriately, as is the law, by you being caught, fined, and then having to register properly. Or, better, that you see the error of your ways and reregister on your own. But you have stated you will not reregister on your own, and you are proud and boastful that you have escaped enforcement of the law.

I see nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with wishing that a boastful scofflaw be visited by a violation of the law. BTW, that you consider me a piece of crap for wishing it on you, would appear to contradict your claim that with insurance you don't care if your car is stolen. But why would I expect logic from you?

Evidently you are not the only person who considers themself above the law.

Touche'. I hope you remember that on April 15 when you file those taxes.

Dont forget the biatch part. You are that as well. And since two can play this game, whatever you wish on me, I wish threefold on you and yours. Now see how that works, you care not what I think of you and I care less what you think of me.

I pay the taxes I owe. Do you cheat on your taxes too?

I do not think wishes actually effect reality. Evidently you are less indifferent than you claim, as you can't let this go. I do admit that I care - entitled folks holding themselves above the law like this annoys me. More than it shouuld perhaps, but it does.

Something is bothering you too, I see. I think you are more conflicted about your scofflaw behavior than you claim.

Thats good though, it means you are redeemable.

Time out. Geesh, I expect better behavior from my four-year old. No one cares about your issues with car registrations or insurance.

People care a lot about rooting out the out-of-District cheaters from our public schools!

NP here-- if you are going to cheat on your car insurance and registration that's one thing, but don't try to justify it like it's okay!! You are cheating the city, period. Now, if you don't care, don't think you'll get caught, whatever, not much we can do about it (although your neighbors may turn you in). But don't act like it's okay and defend it!!

I wonder if you could make this work with a not-profit. Negotiate a qui-tam type deal with the city and use that to fund the investigations. Run it as net zero income?

When we moved on from primary to middle, our friends went to Deal. We didn't move so we shelled out $$$ for private. What kind of lesson do kids learn when they are taught to lie about their address? Either move IB or pay the price.
