According to Chief Steve Bracknell, Shellie Zimmerman called 911 claiming George Zimmerman had a gun and was making threats. The victims are not speaking to police and were waiting for their attorney to arrive, Bracknell said.

As of 3:20 p.m., no arrests have been made.

Frankly, given what Zimmerman went through in the media, etc, his life is a living hell and people for some reason think this is OK. Personally, I don't.

I think his wife is going to milk that for all its worth - starting with the media interview she gave. He's no longer of any use to her and she wants money. Can you imagine your wife, knowing there was a bounty on your head, wanting you to buy a life insurance policy with her as the beneficiary? How cold is THAT?

Whether I think what happened was right or wrong, the man was tried and convicted in the media and public eye, despite the fact that he was acquitted. I find that disgusting.

Killing an unarmed person is disgusting. Zimmerman and all he represents is what is wrong with America.

Martin was indeed armed. He used his fists.

There is no evidence of this. You're forgetting that Zimmerman's "injuries" were not examined until an entire day later after he murdered Trayvon, and declined going to a doctor or being x-rayed. I'd go to Vegas betting that Zimmerman's injuries were done at his own hands, or someone very close to him, to weave together a fabrication.

You must be broke from your terrible gambling odds

I don't gamble, but if I were, I'd certainly bet on it

So can you explain why Zimmerman DECLINED to go to the hospital after his "injuries?" And why he refused to be x-rayed?

OJ got away with killing a white woman.

And where is he now?

Because it's actually been debunked, and you can see the photoshopped-ness in the poorer quality photo put together by racists.

Still waiting for your threads defending OJ Simpson and Casey Anthony.

The article was updated since I first posted. The current article (which also may eventually be updated), says this (which you appear to have edited):

"As of 3:45 p.m., no arrests have been made and George Zimmerman is 'no longer in investigative detention'.

So, Zimmerman was being held at one point.

My vote is "questioned" and "held" are equals...detained is a step beyond.

Most here will probably admit they'd hoped he was being detained, but 'held' and 'questioned' really don't have much sunlight between then.

Yet, I didn't use the word "detained". I quoted exactly from the original newspaper article.

I think what most posters are concerned about is that Zimmerman was involved in a domestic dispute with a gun. They are less concerned with semantics.

I'm not concerned about that at all, Jeff. And after reading the linked article, the title of this thread is very misleading, even if it did come from the article.

Okay, just so we are clear. You are not concerned about domestic disputes involving guns. I assume that if your husband threatens you with a gun, you will just smile and thank him for showing how much he loves you?

The title of this thread was the title of the article I quoted. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the newspaper.

no i would shoot first.

Shoot and end up in jail like Marissa Alexander who only fired warning shots, "stood her ground" but was still convicted?

AA here. Please stop doing what racists do by only telling half the story to prove a point! Alexander is in jail because she is an out of control nutcase. Read ALL of the facts surrounding her case. I am AA and as liberal as they come, but her a$$ needs to be locked up. That being said, so does GZ.

+1. OJ was acquitted in the criminal trial but was bankrupted by the verdict in the civil trial. He got away with in the sense that he did not go to jail for it. But he is in jail now for a relatvely minor offense and his life is not worth a quarter - and that is how it should be.

You would probalby learn more from Googling it yourself. A couple of high points.

In the incident that prompted the Stand you Ground case, they argued about some texts she had gotten, she went to the car and got her pistol, came back in the house, he walked towards her, she told him to leave, he refused and she fired the warning shot. According to witnesses, the shot was in the direction of her estranged and his two kids. HE called 911 - the man who was beating her so severely was the one who called. Another incident occured between the two while she was out on bond for the "warning" shot. She went back to his house with the intention of staying with him - the man who had allegedly beat her so badly that she had to fire a gun to keep him away. Because he would not let her stay at his house while she out on bond, she assaulted him and fled. When the police got there, the man's face was swollen and bloodied. She later pled no content to domestic battery.

I am NOT saying that the punishment fit the crime - her sentence is ridculous. But the people claiming her to be some downtrodden abused martyr have it wrong too. She and this guy had been battling for years and according to witnesses, she was often the aggressor.

Well yes he was acquitted because the prosecution failed to prove its case. Even one of the jurors was upset that she had to acquit him. Being acquiited does not mean you are innocent morally.

This guy is an azzhole who has been in trouble before and will be in trouble again. If he were AA, no doubt people would be calling him a thug. Since he is not, let me be the first to say it - GZ is a self indulgent, unredeemable THUG! This is not the last we will hear of him a bad light. I bet you.
Says it all.

Thanks for elaborating, pp. Yes, the sentence was crazy! But the events weren't anywhere near as simple as people made them out to be. These things usually aren't - and the Zimmerman-Martin incident is good evidence of that.
