Anyone have a successful 1st IVF at the age of 40?

Wow - that's great, OP. How many follicles did they count before the ER?

A 7:30 am retrieval - I didn't think they did them that early as they want you to come in 1.5 hours ahead of time. Did that mean you had to get there at 6 am? Ouch.

What was your protocol again? I'm doing 1 week Lupron (10 units), then 12 days gonal (225) and menupur (150).

OP here... Still waiting for a call if it's a 3 or 5 day transfer. I'm thinking it will be a 5 dayer. HOPEFULLY!!!

They counted 16 antrals before I started to stim on day 3 (Lupron Evaluation) I had between 7-10 over 2 years ago but always had a bunch of follies when I took Clomid. Your antral follie count is just a marker and not the sole indicator on how many you will have retrieved. So if you have a low count don't stress over it.

Looks like I had the same meds and dosage as you, except I was on Lupron for 9 days because my period would show up!!!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

OP here again...

Yea they do frozen sperm and ISCI first thing in the morning so I was one of the first patients of the day. I checked in at 6am and soon after the nurse came and got me and took my stats, etc. than you got hooked up to an IV, etc. I was in the ER at 7:30 and out at 7:50. It normally takes 15 min but i had a littl emore to work with.

Because I was in so much pain (with how many the retrieved) they offered me pain meds thru the IV so it took a little longer to be discharged. I would ave been dicharged at 8:30 but instead it was closer to 9am.

That's great, how many made it to day 5? Are you planning on freezing the rest? Any problems with OHSS. Sometime when you make that many eggs your ovaries really swell.

so far 14 are doing well on day 4 and my Dr. thinks I will have at least 4-5 to freeze after transferring 2.

Yes, I have OHSS but it's mild right now. After my ER, I was in hurtin status for 2 days.

Be careful with the OHSS. I had it and needed to have fluid aspirated, 2 liters then 1.5 liters. The OHSS gets worse if you get pregnant.

How did it go? I posted 2/11 20:29. I had the OHSS and ET a morula and 8 cell plus on 1/17/09. We thought we miscarried but went back today and saw a yolk sac so holding our breath for a heart beat in the next week or two. GL.

OP here. Well I am a little disappointed. I had one grad 1AA expanded blast (the best grade) and one 3AB blast. I was joping for two 1AA blasts but it didn't work out that way. I currently had 9 morulas cooking and hopefully some of those will go to the freezer. Thanks for your support.

My OHSS seems to stll be bothering me. The Dr. made a comment on my enlarge ovaries. I was freaking because i did not want this cycle cancelled.

Two blasts is great!!!!! We had a morula and a 8cell plus, so you're in great shape. If the OHSS gets bad, remember it means you're probably pregnant! You will however look like you're 8 months preggie from all the swelling.. drink lots of gatorade and eat lots of protein.

I totally understand the typos as I too am lying in bed to one side, typing with one hand.

Although we got excited about the yolk sac, we got bad news that the beta did not go up. It was 5,250 two days ago and today only 5,085. So we have another visit on monday but if the bleeding starts then we'll know. It's in God's hands now.

Please keep us updated. I just went through ER and ET my self so I wish you sticky thought. REST and stay calm. Things are looking great for you.
