Anyone have a successful 1st IVF at the age of 40?

Well I went to the clinic this a.m. because of OHSS. I am in a lot of pain. The Dr. told me my ovaries are very enlarged and have fluid but not enough that requires drainage. I already look 5 months prego. ugh.. Anyway, they did a CBC and BETA on me so I should get my HCG #'s today at 16dpo. I hope for a good count so I have no worries. |

My nurse just called me. My BETA is 661 (16dpo) HOLY SMOKES!!! |

hi to OP, and congratulations! to answer your question about my beta, it was 15dpt at 616, and then over 1500 on 17dpt. I just had my first pregnancy ultrasound this morning, and it is definately one! (I still think one is in hiding and we'll see him/her on next ultrasound  but doctor said no to that theory. so we are just thrilled to have seen one and when that little heart beats up on that screen, it is too amazing. best of luck to you, I will be curious about your numbers.

OP here. WOW your BETA's sure would have lead me to believe that you have 2 beans cooking!!! I guess you have one very strong babe! I really pray that I have 1 healthy bean as I already have a 21 month old. I should find out march 9th or so. Please keep your fingers crossed for one beaner OK?

congratulations to you both!
I think you have a singleton. With my shady grove twins, my beta was 3100 at 13dp5dt. I'm doing IVF again and hoping for a singleton this time. Again, congratulations! |

Research shows that with a HCG # as high as hers, it's most likely twins. I can't wait to find out either.

Seriously...you can't compare your BETA # and tell the OP it's "Probably" a singleton. I just had twins and my BETA at 16dpo was 375. Another one of my friends had twins and her BETA at 16dpo was 285. If you look at http://www.betabase.info/ it shows that even her BETA of 661 at 16dpo is not even within the mean of 547. As you can see BETA's are all over the plac so you never know! But...if I had to make a hypthetical guess, I would say that OP more than likely has 2 in the oven. I'm sure she'll update us in a couple weeks. |

| * Lurker * My sister had triplets and her #'s were'nt as high as OP's so you never know. If I were to guess (Just guessing!) I would say TWINS! |

OP here! Well I was freaking out over my high BETA numbers so I emailed my RE and she told me that the odds are in my favor that both of my blastocysts implanted, but that BETA's can be all over the place and could very well be a singleton.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one but I will be doubally blessed with 2.

OP here!! Well...I went to the clinic because my OHSS was getting bad so they did an U/S and guess what? There were 2 sacs and fetal poles, etc!!! It's TWIN's!!! Everything looks good according to my RE!!! Thank you all for your support!!!
