OP here. Sorry to hear about yuor ectopic. I transferred 2 blasts with AH and am now 12 weeks along with twins! ![]() I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Please keep us updated!
|
| pardon my ignorance but how can you have an ectopic pregnancy when doing an IVF cycle? the embryo is placed in the uterus -- doesn't have to travel so how can it end up as an ectopic? |
| It happens, the embryo just kind of flows up to the tubes instead. |
| Thanks for sharing you have given me hope and congradulations! to you. |
| Thanks for sharing you have given me hope. Congratulations on you twins!! |
| I am 44 and on my 5th IVF cycle. We transferred 4 embryos and are waiting for results in a week. My doc gives me 12-15% odds, so hopefully we'll get lucky this time! Best to all of the over-40 women going for it! |
OP here. I hope your 5th cycle is a charm!!! Good Luck!!!!! |

I'm 42. Got pg on my 3rd cycle, but it ended in miscarriage during week 10. Can't try again for two months. Next time I'm getting chromosomal testing done!
Good luck to all. |
| yuor chances of getting healthy eggs at 42 years and over drastically reduce in number. |
| Hello I am 41 just starting my 4th IVF cycle this is my last attempt and I hope this is the one. I have a 6 yr old son had him without any help I hope this is the one. Anyone else just starting would love to here success stories at my age Thanks!! |
Yes I think many of us on this forum who are actually 41 and over realize that. I just had a consult with an RE at CCRM who tells me 75% of a 42 yo woman's eggs are bad. I'm still an optimist otherwise I wouldn't be doing this again and again. I read from that there are 25% that are still good and that's what we're trying for. I think the key is to do the best you can to avoid putting in bad embies if possible through testing. I have one DS through IVF. Had him at 37. Now I'm need that one golden egg. |
| PP - Do you think you'll cycle with CCRM? I have consults scheduled with them and Cornell, although I'm not sure yet if I will move from SG. (And if I do, Cornell seems a lot more doable to cycle there.) |
|
Well, I haven't had a consult with Cornell yet. All I know so far is that Cornell boasts strong stats for women our age and attributes this to the fact that they use some endometrial tissue in which to culture the embies. But I have no idea if they do the intensive testing beforehand as CCRM does. I have no idea also if they do CGH. And of course their stats, althugh good, are slightly lower than CCRM for women my age. I have taken into account that they also see a much larger number of women than CCRM.
While I'm recovering from this m/c, Ihave time to consult with Cornell too. I'm definitely leaving SG though to move on to one of these two. I just feel it's a little irresponsible to put in embies in a 40+ year old woman without doing some kind of testing beforehand. The m/c rate is so high. And if she does m/c, the recuperation time is 2 mos more. So that means with every m/c she has lost incredibly precious fertility time. Months for a 40+ woman are probably the equivalent to 2 or 3 yrs for a young woman in her 30's! So if chromosomal testing can be done on me/ DH beforehand to see if we are carriers of abnormalities that would help. And it might be helpful for a RE to do CGH beforehand. |
