dumb to be so obsessed with race. but whatever is the majority now, will still be the majority. hispanics, many asians (including far east and south asians) are going to intermarry and assimilate and we will be a slightly browner version of what we are now.

There's a huge difference between no longer being more than 50% of the population and being a "minority."

Even if they are a plurality, they'll be the biggest group.

1. scattered around the country, which means that whites WILL be the minority in larger cities - especially those on the coasts - b/c of job availability, big business, and government
2. socioeconomics - Poor whites aren't necessarily "leaders." So I think the fear is that whites (of which I am one) will be led by more and more minorities, which shrinks white privilege. Obama isn't the greatest example, as he hasn't really rocked the race boat. Now if Farrakhan had been president, things would be much different! LOL!

Years ago, I was at a school where the lily white principal was basically forced to leave b/c she didn't have the personality to lead a majority minority (oxymoron???) population. The parents weren't too happy with her, claiming she was cold. I had to agree; she was cold. smart, but very blah

So it's not just color of skin; it's culture, too. In fact, it's mainly about culture - and expectations about behavior. Although white, I grew up with two cultures - us versus "the Americans."

And in all honestly, I can't come up with a way to define culture in the US - not now anyway. years ago, yes

5) Consider what happens when a group becomes a minority, especially a groupt that has been successful. Jews were very successful in Germany before WWII but were resented for it.

These are just a start. I would love to hear how others are handling this.

I just spent a week with my grandson who happens to be an outstanding teenage basketball player. He was selected to his home city All Star summer leagues team. I volunteered to ravel with the team while the competed in a tournament against ten other cities. He is the white player selected to the Team. During the entire week I received a lesson in colorblindness. The younger generation demonstrated no racial concerns. Respect for each others skills, intensity and the will to win was what counted. Sinking a jump shot from the top of the key as time ran out for the win = the sole white player on his teamates shoulders

There will be no white privilege in the future, which is fine b/c we'll have a brown country by the time my kids are grown. They, however, will be fair-skinned beauties - standing out among the crowds. They will either be feared or revered - is my belief - and I don't like either option.

brings back memories of my first trip to my parents' hometown in Italy - I was as fair as could be - La Bionda - and people were in awe of my blonde hair, green eyes and fair skin. It was a weird feeling.

So what OP brings up is very real. Sadly, so many of you are way too PC to deal with a nerve that's been hit! So either learn now or suffer later b/c your white ass will no longer be THE white ass.

But we all know that power lies where money lies, and whether whites are a minority or not will be irrelevant for a long, long time. Oh, and if this so-called "problem" means that white idiots learn to be a little more accepting of others, and feel less entitlement or privilege simply by virtue of the color of their skin, then that's only a good thing.

I think as one pp said earlier that the harassment still continues. My husband is Hispanic and we live in a Hispanic area and he got pulled over on our wedding day for absolutely no reason. My husband was pissed and he pulled out his "government" credentials (Secret underworld kind) and could easily have gotten that cop fired in a second. You can believe that cop apologized and backpedaled like the ignorant ass that he was.

So yeah, as a white hispanic I am unusual, but we exist. My son is a bit darker but having a genius for a dad I am hoping he will succeed and I will make sure he gets all the benefits as a minority that he can. Because as the pp said he was born with a 50% chance of failing just by being a minority and then gets judged as one by people like the OP.

However, I know how to play your white game. We are educated not immigrants. I will make sure my son gets every advantage he can get.

We're not going to be in the minority. We may no longer be a majority of the population, but I cannot think of any one single other racial group that will be greater in proportion. It's not like all the other "minorities" share cultures, etc.
