Not to singe out Asians, but one year Asian owned businesses received 3/4 of all Small Business Administration loans. Why? Because they qualify for minority privileges but frankly don't need the help. Asians overachieve in many areas. Also minority government contracts are legendary because of preferences written into law.

This is just one category of several demands that the AAPI group has. And one race group of a dozen just on Capitol Hill. You go ahead and think that your child is overprivileged while these pressure groups rake in billions and position themselves as your child's boss.

You're assuming that Hispanics won't be considered "white." Hispanic is an ethnicity (like Irish or German or European) not a racial category. Plenty of other ethnic Catholic minority groups (Irish and Italian, for example) were not considered white in the 19th century and are considered white now. I expect that Hispanics will be much the same.

Yeah, every wave of immigration has brought the same fearmongers. The fact is that we have jobs in this country that aren't being done by the people we have. High tech, agriculture, and construction.

Let the immigrants in to fix the economic problem. If the deadweight ever wakes up and gets some skills or ambition then we can talk about slowing it down.

Ok, you all are idealistic nut jobs. The unemployment rate just rose again to 8.2 percent. It's so high that even illegal immigrants that take slave wages can't find work.

Actually, the demographics of southern and Eastern Europe (low birth rate, low immigration) exacerbates their fiscal problems. Fewer people = fewer people to pay the debt.

As for the immigrants taking the jobs, there is not a fixed number of jobs. Labor can be substituted for capital. The long-run unemployment rate is determined by structural factors like how high benefits are, how dynamic the economy is etc. If you are parenting right, your kids will note be competing with illegals for jobs.

You are using logic instead of just calling names. I appreciate that at least.

I'll start by agreeing with you. The economy is not static and needs to expand in order to accommodate the influx of immigrants. The problem is that the vast majority of newcomers are the poorest of the poor from Mexico and Central America. When they come here, they drain system from education to healthcare to housing subsidies. They also vote for more social spending which is something we desperately need to curtail (along with other cuts) if we plan on not defaulting on our debt payments. They are also creating great slums in our cities such as Los Angeles. It's possible that our economy could expand and we could pull out of debt, but the outlook is very bad. The amnesty is certainly bad for those who have children graduating now.

I don't know what countries you are referring to, but Greece got into its problems due to overspending. Germany has an absolute implosion in its reproductive rate, and they are fiscally doing quite well. This is because the Germans chose responsible spending policies. Instead of getting into great debt like Greece (and the US) they kept within their means. Now, of course, everyone wants to take the money that they painstakingly earned and saved.
