Would any of the several folks turning down Yu Ying PK slots mind sharing why they've decided to do so?

Decided to go to another bilingual charter. Not interested in trying to support Chinese language at home. Thing Yu Ying is great, but I'm not convinced that Chinese is going to be as important as all that, so we opted for an easier language (and one that we actually speak).

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! Yu Ying is a great school, but if you are not really "into" Chinese language and culture, it's not a great choice! There is a clear difference amongst student/family experiences at the school depending on this variable. You don't have to speak the language to benefit, but you do have to commit to learning some Chinese, definitely cultural aspects, and be willing to work with your child at home using the excellent home resources the school provides on the portal. Those families who choose the school merely because it's a "good, safe, truly diverse" school without thinking through the harder parts of immersion don't do as well.

Could those of you giving up a spot at LAMB please specify whether it's for a 3 year-old or 4 year-old? I learned there are less spaces available for 4-year olds, so I'm anxious to know. Thanks!

We are turning down a PS3 slot at Bridges. Hard decision since I didn't expect to get in but we are going to stick with Appletree CH instead.

Anyone else turning down a PS3 slot at Bridges? We have a pretty good waitlist number (single figures) but were shut out of all the other lotteries.

Gave up a PS3 slot at Appletree CH.

I just turned down 2 PS3 slots at Bridges. (We got an email yesterday that we were admitted from the wait list.) Good luck!

Take heart Appletree and Bridges waitlisters...because those schools are short term solutions their waitlists move a ton. I know this from personal experience.

Turning down Shining Star...got into Logan...but, believe that Shining Star will be an outstanding school!

Bump...in addition to spots you're turning down, does anyone have updates for certain schools? Like, "I think XXX school has reached the high 30s on the waitlist for PreK"
Anonymous
I just learned we got into our top choice, so I'll be giving up our preK spot at Apple Tree CH.

Inspired Teaching has gotten at least to #15 on their PS wait list.

I've got two spots at Bridges, we were 10 and 11 on the pre-k list when cards were sent out. Still have not received word, but will turn down if offered.
