I know and have met more white trash kids and parents at DC's elite private than I ever knew in one location. That says a lot coming from some one who had a blue/white color family and even relatives in WVA.

You can't judge trash by the house. Parents hooking up. Girls with multiple hook-ups [same night], scamming school for financial aid, beer pong participation, etc.

Beer pong participation? I think all college kids play beer pong now -- yes, even at the Ivies. Are you talking about parents playing? I guess you must be. I can't even imagine that though. Who even knows how to play?

I am Jewish and have met Jews who would qualify as Jewish white trash under the definition OP is using. However, when you use the term "Jewish trash" it sounds like they are qualifying as trash because they are Jewish -- it reminds me of when my college roommate's boyfriend used to refer to Visa as "that Jew company" or when people refer to Jerry Seinfeld as "that Jewish comic" when it's clear they don't like or appreciate him.

I agree. If you feel white trash is racist, feel free not to use it. For me, it's a perjorative and since I come from a long line of Indiana/Kentucky poor white trash I feel competely free to use it. The above poster is correct that the term can also apply to the rich. I would include Britney Spears in that category in addition to the aforementioned Paris Hilton. It's not always about having the couch on the front porch or junker in the yard. It's also about how you conduct yourself.

I understand your point but Chris Rock used to have a similar riff on the "n" word and I think he was wrong too. Ultimately, it's a slur against low-income people, even if it is used now and then to describe Britney Spears.

According to a guy who researched the term, it's not just for poor people. "In common usage "white trash" overlaps in meaning with cracker (regarding Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (regarding Appalachia), Okie (regarding Oklahoma origins), and redneck. The main difference is that "redneck," "cracker", "Okie", and "hillbilly" emphasize that a person is poor and uneducated and comes from the backwoods with little awareness of the modern world, while "white trash" emphasizes the person's moral failings.
