It’s actually harder in many states to get into your local top state university as a state resident. The university wants a more diverse student body, along with that sweet out of state tuition and international full tuition kids. In state tuition is a discount off list price that must be carefully rationed. |
Correct, which is why it's harder for high stats kids from W schools to get into UMD than if that same kid went to a non W school. |
You can calm down I’m not an anti Wootton moving to Crown person I’m just stating what makes sense for the Middle Schools. I agree that geographically DuFief should go to QO, but that school is going to continue being close to full capacity (96%) despite both Brown Station and Fields Road being moved out. There’s no space for DuFief at QO without knocking more schools from QO towards Northwest…which would then go over capacity. |
Nothing anyone says will make a difference the country will keep option H |
No we paid for a school district It was bad enough our kids were bused 30 minutes to cabin John instead of frost because the willows was built. Split articulation is stupid |
| Wooton as a holding school for Damascus is horrific |
Totally agree. Damascus HS is 28 minutes from Crown and 32 from Wootton. Everyone knows losing 4 minutes of sleep per night on average for 2 years is highly detrimental to long term health and academic success. |
And you know this will never happen. Wootton goes to Crown and then the Wootton building will be used for other purposes. I hope it is used to house the Special needs kids - Imagine having a school for the special needs kids instead of these programs in every school. Dedicated teachers, central location. |
32 minutes at top speed. In rush hour it'll be more like 90. |
They're going to build low income housing there. I guarantee it. The county council has been salivating over the idea of doing this to a nice neighborhood for several years. |
| Guess the resentful Woottonites should have taken out extra loans to purchase houses in the Churchill district instead of Wootton. Sucks to be reminded that being Upper Middle Class means you share some structural conditions with the Middle Class and not the 1%ers of McMansion Potomac. A tragedy. |
Because you want MCPS to violate the law? How about an institution where we just lock all the kids away? You would prefer that? |
You sound really silly. Wootton is mostly middle class - upper middle class and we know it. We aren’t confused about our status. People like us sacrifice and live in small dated houses to get into the district rather than spending the same dollars to live in a nicer home zoned to QO or RM. I and many other parents sacrifice cars and vacations. Yes there is some expensive housing but that’s not the majority by any means. |

If you have higher farms, and they are not as academic, it helps with college admissions as less competition. It’s not the name. |
