| Starting a new thread for reaction to today's Crown High School boundary study recommendation from Taylor. |
| For those that didn't attend the meeting, Taylor recommended a modified option H where Wootton is closed and Crown High School is opened with the students from Wootton + Fields Roads + some of Rosemont - Cold Spring which they are moving to Churchill. There was a secondary recommendation for how to shift boundaries if the board rejects closing Wootton and wants to operate both Crown and Wootton. |
| Does anyone know if the specifics of the secondary recommendation are posted anywhere? All they showed at the meeting was a map. |
It's all here: https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=DN3SB971C0A2 |
| I understand that there will never be an option that pleases everyone, but it is interesting that they chose option H when all of the testimonies have been so against it. |
| Where is the articulation chart for the alternate option |
Where in this link? |
| Just say it like it is. Many Wootton families were all for moving to Crown until they found out that their uppity SES school was going to have to bring in some lower SES areas. Personally, I thought Crown should have been Crown/Rio area and Wootton should have stayed Wootton but it almost seems like this decision a big F-U to the Wootton community from the superintendent for changing their minds once they heard his plan. |
I don't see any issue with FARMS going from 14 to 19%. As long as it's around 20, it won't be having any negative effect on school. |
scroll down, under section 8, doc 8.1. |

That doesn't include the alternate option. |
| Where can I find more info about the non-recommended alternative including articulation tables? All I see from board docs is an unhelpful map. |
It's original option D |
It will have a huge affect More importantly I don’t want my kids driving to Crown period. Good job MCPS closing one of your top performing schools fabulous idea Time to move on. |
