To be fair, she is the anchor of a morning news show. She was absent on Monday when she was supposed to be there. They always explain why and it would be weird for them not to mention that her 84-year-old mother is a missing person? I mean, of course it’s going to be news on the today show and if it’s news there other outlets are going to pick it up. |
| I’m not familiar with Savannah, did she say something that might have enraged maga? |
+1 This is similar to my in-laws (both in their 80s with limited mobility). They don’t drive anymore or do their own heavy cleaning or yard work, but they prefer to stay on their own home. They also converted a main floor den into a bedroom and no longer use stairs. They go to mass most mornings (rideshare through the church), cook and putter around the house and watch tv, sit on the patio when the weather is nice, and have visitors (several children and adult grandchildren live nearby) checking in to spend time with them daily in the late afternoon or evening. They are also close with their longtime neighbors. They really don’t want or need (at the moment) live-in help. Granted they are together rather than alone, but I’m not sure the living arrangement would change if either were to pass away. |
Very different from living alone. |
Adult children cannot force this. Just shut your mouth, because you clearly have not been there. |
| Why do they have the homicide detectives there? |
MILLIONS of Americans live alone, with at most a pet for company. MILLIONS of them are WOMEN. Are you suggesting that we are not competent to live on our own? Are you suggesting that at a certain age (what age?) we need to have a babysitter moved in to our homes? You’re ridiculous. |
And you over generalize way too much. |

“Approximately 36 to 38 million Americans, or about 28%–29% of all households, live alone as of 2024–2026, marking a record high. This upward trend, growing from 7.7% in 1940, means single-person households are increasingly common, with nearly 1 in 10 young adults and 3 in 10 older adults living alone.”
“Key Statistics on Living Alone in the U.S. Total Numbers: Roughly 36-38 million one-person households existed, with recent data indicating a push toward 40 million. Demographic Trends: Women over 75 are the most likely to live alone (around 43%), followed by younger adults aged 18–34 (about 1 in 10). Regional Data: Washington, D.C. has one of the highest concentrations of people living alone. Historical Shift: The percentage of single-person households has grown from 17% in 1970 to 28% in 2021. The rise in solo living is largely attributed to aging populations, people marrying later in life, and increasing financial independence.” |
| Can you folks take the elder care debate to another thread? Let’s try and keep this on the subject of the disappearance and not on the subject of the ethics of elder care. |
Perhaps you live off the grid and are "too good for tv", but anyone with a tv knows The Today Show is a national program. Thus, they've at least heard of the show even if they hadn't watched it. The local and national news covers missing persons. Duh. |
| I don't think there was major evidence of a crime like blood. It says the family went to the house and then searched around for an hour before calling police. If they had seen evidence of a major crime, they wouldn't have been wandering the nearby neighborhood and property for an hour looking for her. The house was open, I am sure they looked all through the house first in case she had fallen etc..and then they still searched for an hour before calling police. |
I hope she is too!!! |
| This poor woman! |
| The grave concern is that she relies on medication to sustain her life and she didn’t take it with her. LEOs are saying 24 hours and it will be life threatening. |
