In-laws want to go see ds in college

I am really dreading the idea of planning this whole overnight trip with in-laws with hotel rooms and hanging out the whole entire weekend and long drive back and forth.

Are they overbearing or just a sweet visit?

They need to get a life.

It is cultural? Some cultures the grand parents are way way over kill and way too involved in my opinion. It depends on what you/they are accustomed to.

Most of us here went to college. It’s busy and an independent time.

I never had, saw nor heard of any grandparents flying in to see any of my friends or peers. And certainly not to “hang out” for 2-4 days solid.

Even if parents “visited” or happened to be in town, at most people had time for a dinner or catch a game together (buy tix way ahead of time).

My parents wanted to visit while their grandson was in college. We decided to fly out a few days early from winter break his sophomore year. It was nice to be on campus when everything was quiet. So easy to park and walk around. And my son wasn't stressed with classes. Worked out well and we all had a good time.

Most people don’t even go to college.
