Teams have been booking rooms for weeks, whoever you had coordinating this was asleep at the wheel. Parents booked the closest and best places right away, good team admins move quickly to coordinate team parents to book same hotel too so kids can hangout and coaches have access to the entire team

How could they book before the links were active on the travel company website?

Teams are not accepted all at once. What the tournament director doesn’t tell you is that there are favored clubs that receive their acceptances before anyone else. They are able to book choice hotels before other teams. It’s BS!

Well that definitely explains the mystery.

If by “favored” you mean the higher ranked teams likely get selected first then I agree. Certainly some teams are on the “standby” list if there are openings to fill different level brackets

Wouldn’t have much of a tournament with just the “A” bracket teams. Not much of a money maker for you!

A lot of those teams are also coming from all over the country so it makes sense they get some priority after flying/driving a very long way.

Very surprised Jeff Cup is still a thing TBH. Not many college coaches want to be in Richmond in March. There are much better national scouting events.

Our team was just notified yesterday like pp and they are in the top bracket. So all the teams just notified were not "standby".

Did you not read what I said, I said SOME teams are on standby because they were. You must be new to the Jefferson Cup apparently, or just not clued in to how this major tournaments work.

This tourney is the swan song of that old grande dame ECNL.

You sound like Disco Stu. This isn’t a major tournament anymore. Not by a long shot.

Not sure how much college coaches value the Jeff Cup today but what's wrong with Richmond in March? Late March for the older groups is probably going to have ideal soccer weather.

You are "very surprised" a tournament with a thousand teams wanting to participate is "still a thing"?

What a weird comment. You sound kind of...dim.

Late March of the older groups is fine from a weather standpoint. I can only speak on the girls side, but my DD played last year at U16 (her main recruiting year) and had many college coaches at her games. The event overall was well attended and I think continues to be a top early spring event.

I didn't realize Jeff Cup was still a thing.

Syc top team(s) not in it anymore? Where will the u13 and u14 play?

One of the other ten million tournaments?

I thought MLS teams could only do MLS branded tournaments, no?
