There is an alternative school: Blair E. Ewing with two campuses. It is poorly run, but it is there.

Problem is Blair Ewing is voluntary. The student and parent has to want to go to there.

That is one component, however, students are also placed there by the system as part of the disciplinary process for serious offenses requiring removal from Gen Ed.

Link of that altercation ?

Watkins Mill HS principal sent out an email explaining why the school was on lockdown/hold.

Usually on this forum someone will post the message from principal when letter is sent to families. Prob the same template they use at all MCP high schools.

I’ve already been planning to for next year for my daughter due to other concerns. but now I’m really focusing on getting my cash in order and getting a HELOC to pay for catholic school.

I can't blame you. Make sure you tell Taylor and Peter Moran that you're doing this and copy the BOE on your email.

I might email them. I would really rather not do it. But after an incident last year with my daughter at school I realized MCPS is just not viable anymore. So it’s either that or renting my house out and renting in Falls church, or the Langley cluster in NOVA. It’s really sad because I graduated from a school here in 1997, and I would’ve never thought it would get this bad.

Does anyone know if a community meeting has been called yet?

Anyone from the Northwood PTSA saying or doing anything?

Why would you move to NOVA though, seems like it is illogical.

It’s a Contingency plan if the catholic schools are full. Though it would be the last thing I would like to do to be perfectly honest.

No community meeting. PTSA has been quiet

I don’t think Northwood parents are willing to blame MCPS for this incident or be confrontational with the principal.

I think they just want to chalk this incident up as a one-off involving a “bad” kid.

Do the principals have any say in what SESES students are sent to their schools?
