Love it. And, to think, I woke up this morning with no idea that I would be reminded of that there show.

DS is a Junior and I was totally surprised to hear coke was popular with college kids. Frat and finance bros are the worst offenders per my kid.

The comment about “good kids smoking cigarettes?!?!” was unintentionally hilarious

Ummm - never tried coke. Or marijuana. It's all rather gross imho.
One time of coke can kill you. I saw a 19 yo male with a heart attack from coke. Yes, it's a thing.

How are these kids partying/drinking in HS and then getting into Ivies? Meaning, how do they keep their grades up, sports/ECs if they're drunk so much that they are bored of it by college? And how do they keep up with college classes if they're drugged/high? Serious question.

Do you think people are drunk and high 24/7? It’s called a “weekend warrior,”babes. Not to be attempted by anyone over the age of 25.

Very common unfortunately.

Well, however long they spend high/drunk, they’re clearly not very smart now, are they.

Things aren’t quite that black and white.

Penn freshman home for Thanksgiving break reports tons of cocaine use, more among guy friends and said all of the NYC/LA crowd is very into coke and does it all the time. Really scary to hear. We talked about how it can be laced or kill you in one time and I really hope it sunk in.

Yes. Lots of smoking going on at the Ivy my kid attends. Vaping is really out but cigarettes are very in.

Cigarettes are awesome when you're a student.

-- Ivy grad who hasn't smoked in years but remembers them fondly.

My kid (at an Ivy) texted me during orientation to say "who knew cigarettes were still a thing" She was surprised because kids in HS vaped (a lot) but no one her age really using cigarettes back home. She hasn't mentioned cocaine at all, but I remember it being a rich kid thing when I was in college so I'm sure its still a thing in certain social circles.

Same reaction about cigarettes from my DD when we toured colleges recently and she did some overnights. She's been around vaping since middle school, but was really surprised to see cigarettes in the mix. She said (to me), "haven't we established that those are bad for you?!" ; ). I'm sure she'll be desensitized soon, sadly.

She said nothing about how vaping has been established to be bad for you?

Let’s be honest. This is our demographic. Bizarre that so many people on here are shocked.

Very scary story- multiple students (7) with cocaine overdoses at Providence College over the weekend. The earlier reports said that 4 unconscious students were found on the lawn of the house and 3 more were brought out from inside the house. All got Narcan and were transported by EMS and hospitalized. Seems worthwhile to have a conversation with your kids and make sure they have access to Narcan.

Agree. Incredibly lucky that someone had the sense to call 911. It doesn't sound like anyone had Narcan until the ambulances came.

The use of Narcan suggests these are actually Opioid overdoses - meaning the cocaine they used was most likely tainted by fentanyl.

Honestly, you have to be an ill-informed dumbass to use random coke from random people these days. Every parent needs to give their kids a little real world drug education today. This is an extremely dangerous time for experimentation.
