| I just asked my EMT kid at an Ivy, he’s had one cocaine call and knew of one other last year. He doesn’t drink or party so wouldn’t see it in other scenarios. Most emergency calls are alcohol and weed mixing related, lots of freshman fall semester learning limits. |
Your kid at Penn? Penn has always had a ton of cocaine It’s part of Penn culture |
| Penn is Coke central |
Hunter Biden doesn't have health insurance? Yes he is not a kid. but what does health insurance have to do with this...? |

My kid (at an Ivy) texted me during orientation to say "who knew cigarettes were still a thing" She was surprised because kids in HS vaped (a lot) but no one her age really using cigarettes back home. She hasn't mentioned cocaine at all, but I remember it being a rich kid thing when I was in college so I'm sure its still a thing in certain social circles. |

I am sure cocaine is everywhere but I’ve never seen it in person. Kid’s college counselor suggested Tulane and kid dismissed rec bc of party culture, fwiw.
I think colleges where kids live on campus for longer may have less hard drug use? Bc penalties of getting caught in school building are higher (no pun intended). Interestingly, my sister moved to Michigan and she says her friends back home are all interested in legal weed when they visit her. It made me wonder what legalization does for marijuana use (and really all substance use) on campuses. Guessing it increases. |

There was apparently a lot of cocaine around when I was in college in the 80s. I didn't do it.
I was too busy getting white girl wasted on the weekends to bother. I have a son who lives overseas in a country where you don't want to go to prison for drugs but when he comes home he sees his HS friends in the hometown and they all are working long hours at manual labor jobs. They buy coke because it's very cheap now, supposedly. One time they got a batch contaminated by Fentanyl and they were all passing out at work while working heavy machinery and hanging off tall ladders and things. Now they call carry narcan. 2025 |
| Very common especially at frats. |

NP and naive penn parent here. I hear a lot about drinking pre and at frat parties. Is there a particular social group where cocaine/drug use is prevalent? Is drug use big within certain sororities? TIA for info that I can use to guide conversations with my kid about my concerns. |
