Cocaine in college

Had your child reported exposure to cocaine use in college? My ivy kid has encountered kids doing it at a few parties and reports that high school classmates were doing it in the bathroom at a large gathering of kids when home this week. We've also heard of other high school classmates doing it at their colleges. All top 20 schools.

I knew it was out there but this is a little close to home. Have you heard the same? My kid is never quite in the cool crowd but is liked by everyone and gets invited to some things. If they are seeing this then there must be a lot more drug use going on.

Of course. As prevalent as Molly and amphetamines, weight loss drugs, etc.

Not as common as fentanyl these days though. Oh the "good old days" of heroin chic and softer drugs.

Yes. I have two college-aged kids at different schools. They both report rampant cocaine use.

Yes, three college kids. They all say lots of cocaine use.

Many of these kids started vaping during Covid, weed became normalized, so now they are moving to the next thing.

Try being regular middle class or poor at a good school. Also staying away from frats. Should work.

If large groups of kids are doing it back home for the holidays, it probably doesn’t matter where your kid goes.

Is anyone else noticing cigarettes are making a comeback? I’m astonished DD reported good kids from high school coming home from freshman year and having cigarettes at Thanksgiving eve parties.

I just asked my son, and he was surprised when I told him about this thread. He says he hasn't seen any of that at W&M. Not that there isn't any, but not with the people he's around. He's been offered weed, but nothing more than that.

It's always been there at certain schools, especially ones where students have money. It was common 20 years ago when I was in college and it still is today. But I think it's always been okay to not do it.

Yes. Lots of smoking going on at the Ivy my kid attends. Vaping is really out but cigarettes are very in.

Not great esp with fentanyl laced cocaine. Def get them fentanyl test strips.
