Like Bowser, JLG has been blessed by never having an even slightly credible challenger. |
She unseated Brandon Todd who was the incumbent and Bowser’s pick to replace her. That’s actually rarely done. Also, she has only had one election as the incumbent. Bowser was Fenty’s replacement when he became Mayor. |
Brandon Todd was notoriously unpopular. Everyone hated him. He was openly contemptuous of his constituents. It's true JLG is more popular than him, but that's not saying much. You'd have to work to be less popular than he was. |
Most politicians in DC win by default. No one else steps up or if they do, it's some goofball. Hopefully we get more credible candidates in the mayoral race. |
Maybe…but it’s rare for an incumbent council member to lose their primary. Just hard to say JLG has never had a credible challenger. |
|
At this point, it’s JLG’s race to lose. I’d put her odds at 65%.
I expect Kenyon to run, but he’s not a credible candidate. Not being able to figure out whether you’re eligible to hold the office you’re seeking is the kind of incompetence that DC needs in its mayor. Unless someone with name recognition steps in soon, JLG is our next mayor. |
Kenyan would be the green team candidate and is better known city wide given his at-large status. That said, neither of them have any of the necessary experience to run a city with a multi-billion dollar budget and thousands of employees. |
There are enough of us in DC who understand the meaning and origin of woke and the nature of people who use it glibly as an insult. Thanks for confirming who you really. |
Kinda hilarious that JLG, who can barely round up 10,000 votes in her own ward with nearly 100,000 people, could be considered the favorite to win anything citywide. |
Not sure what this word salad is supposed to mean, but you can thank the woke crowd for the election of Donald Trump. |
Get woke, become a joke. The Dems found that out the hard way. |
| We will get a maga mayor. They already have planned this out |
Short of a full Federal takeover I don't see how this happens. MAGA isn't exactly popular in DC right now. |
Yet, those 10,000 votes were the most by any democrat candidate for Ward 4 in any election since 2008. That includes Muriel Bowser who parlayed that into winning 3 terms as mayor. Also, that was just the primary. She received 37,000 votes in the general election out of 57,000 total registered voters…which was 94% of the votes cast though 17,000 didn’t vote at all. |
They don't get any softer on crime than JLG. Which led to a spectacular rise in crime in DC. Which led to Trump taking over the city's police force and the occupation that we now all live with for the foreseeable future. Which JLG will surely argue is why she deserves a promotion. Funny how that works. |
