“Such a boy.” Wow, you really hate this kid. Bizarre |
| This notion that healthy kids need to be fed multiple times a day is American gluttony. Kids need to be hydrated if they're outside or playing sports, that's about it. They'll survive until dinner time. |
I have lived in 5 countries, including America. In all of those countries. children whose families had the resources to feed them, ate multiple times a day. Breakfast and lunch are not uniquely American concepts. |
| Has anyone asked OP precisely what she said to the mom? Please tell us OP. I can't really interpret the other mom's response without knowing what you said... |
“American gluttony”?! 😂 OK, forget all the other non-American countries where kids eat breakfast lunch and dinners- everyday! |
| I think it’s ok if the guest doesn’t like the food, but at least not to play with food. It’s rude the parent doesn’t seem to educate their kids to appreciate and have basic manner. |

If you ever buy kid food again tell him if he decides not to eat it, please just save it and you will take care of it.
(You can do whatever with it but stop the balling it up.) |
The kid is 11, not 5. OP could casually mention they stopped for food if she was actually worried about this. But I don’t think she was worried about the tween claiming he wasn’t fed. She was obsessed with “wasting” fast food. |

My kids’ best friend was like this too. It bugs me and I try so hard to get “kid food” she’ll eat. I think it’s the adhd meds that just make her not hungry. The main issue is that she spends all day at our house and keeps asking me for food but not liking anything I make, nor eating it. I’ve offered chicken nuggets, Doritos, apples, cheese sticks, applesauce, yogurt… I’ve even asked the mom in advance what I should buy.
Id never say this in real life but it does make me grateful for my kids. They eat what’s on their plate and don’t comment on food they dislike. They always eat any vegetable on their plate in full. |
Np. Lots of us were raised to not waste food. I’m middle class too and never had food insecurity. At home we didn’t throw out leftovers. |
| I don’t get why you got McDonalds and then Panera right after that? |
That’s at home. I don’t know anybody that reheats McDonalds after it has sat in a car for 2 hours while the kid is at practice. Gross. And harbors bacteria. |
DP. I assume the went to McDonald’s before practice and Panera after practice? |
If we don’t finish our take out, we save it and reheat later. But definitely not if it’s been sitting out for 2 hours. |
I’ve noticed similar behavior of friends of my child on adhd meds |
