I’ve heard of one or two stopping, but why do you think most have?

Various friends at various other agencies.

What happens if mgmt just said No? Funding cut? Chair fired? RV takes over? Seriously?

Jesus, give it a rest on the five things. It can’t take you more than a minute to pick and choose from the preset options. Or just use the same from last week since your work probably doesn’t differ greatly and you are down to thirty seconds.

If it’s so silly and meaningless, WHY DO THEY REQUIRE IT?? You can’t have it both ways — saying it’s so easy and meaningless, while also declaring that it’s an important hill to die on.

Booked Easter week off and desperately trying not to think too hard 🫠

My monitors keep flashing! Does anyone else have this issue?

Mine is doing that. I figured it was because they are really old and really cheap monitors.

Because they are dumb. But you are also dumb getting worked up about this.

Yet you take the time to lecture me about it, rather than just scrolling by. Sounds like the issue is very important to you. Do you engage on every topic that you don’t care about, or just this one?

This may shock people to their core. My daughter is moving to an apt. closer to her work so her commute is not horrible.

She asked the company to move their headquarters by her old apt. but did not work out.

May shock you but established SEC people aren’t renters of one bedroom apts who can just move next month.

For those who have not already noticed - the walls are paper thin and the adjoining spaces can hear your phone calls.

Wants anyone talking about that’s sooo salacious? For most of my neighbors I can just hear they’re speaking not hear actual words. My one neighbor with a louder more distinct voice appears to have spent a lot of time talking to a mechanic or car service department about costs. Shrug. When else is he going to do it - doubt those places are open when he gets home.

Why not? I got relocated and literally went on line for a search for cheapest studio apartments within walking distance my new location. Found one online put deposit down a week before starting to hold it. Showed up to work stayed in hotel first week, saw unit in person then signed lease. Was not a big deal. I took Amtrak DC then took Metro to Apt late on Sunday Night. Then My boss was nice enough to let me leave 11ish am on Fridays. I work a little late on M-T then show up do some work and leave right before lunch.

Pick up lunch Union Station and take 12 noon train home and eat on train, have a beer and catch up emails.

I did it 18 months. Was not hard to do or that expensive. May be hard to believe but even in 2025 you can get cheap studios for $1,500 a month. My Boss lived in Philly and he was on the five day thing got to come in around lunch on Mondays and leave early enough to catch the 10:28 am Acela. Coming to work he catch 10:00 Acela. His apt so close he could actually see his bed from his desk if he left curtain open. He just go to and from work in Jeans and sweats. Did his laundry during week.

He did it six years. His had a Stay at home wife.

People at higher levels just rent a place near the office.
