The Bethesda coach and parents are adults and should be expected to act like adults regardless of what happens on the field. Why did any of the Bethesda ADULTS harass the players on the other team?

If you believe one poster attempting to excuse the behavior, it is because they are poor and people of color.

This is not going to be popular but needs to be said. I watched the video before it was taken down. It was annoying but "brawl" was very over the top. They were just annoying. Honestly, the kids of most of you DCUM have called my girls much worse starting in 5th grade in private school leagues. Just saying. My son is only 10 and playing high club level in Moco and I am preparing him to hear "The N word" so he is prepared for your kids (go ahead and clutch the pearls). PA parents were chanting at our club when our boys were only 8. The rule is always, "Control what you can control." Nevertheless, disappointed the Delco girls did not learn to ignore those idiots because I consider my kids at fault for allowing another person to control their mindset.

Yet in still, this was annoying and should have been defused by a Bethesda parent. There needs to be an enforcer parent (or salesman or saleswoman) on every team who knows how to have "that conversation" in a peaceful manner versus running on here to tattle tale. Just watch Randy Moss and slip in a "C'mon man..." and the situation can be dissolved very quickly. Conflict does not have to mean conflict. Confront the situation when it happens.

“Annoying” would be one word for it. You can raise your kid however you want, but you shouldn’t have to raise 16 year old girls to be able to take insults and harassment from grown MEN. That should not be normalized. It’s a shame these girls are being looked at as guilty and looked at as a “disappointment” because they simply had enough. No child should have to take comments from ADULTS during their youth soccer game. I blame this on their coach, Shaun, for not controlling the parents because they couldn’t control themselves. When you really watch the film and listen closely to the vulgar comments made, you’d understand.

There were no vulgar comments by the Bethesda parents. Delco also has veo - I challenge anyone to post a clip of vulgar comments by Bethesda parents. It simply didn’t happen.

Not only has no one posted a clip, no one has even written what the Bethesda parents supposedly said, beyond saying it was vulgar, which you say didn’t happen, which is consistent with the refs not tossing or even talking to any Bethesda parents and the Delco parents not doing anything to protect their daughters, perhaps because it didn’t happen. My guess is that some Bethesda parents celebrated immaturely (and consistently with Bethesda parent behavior I’ve seen many times) at the end of a close game, a Delco parent understandably (and consistent with Delco parent behavior I’ve seen many times) told them to shut up, and the shameful fracas ensued. Until someone who was there relays what happened in some detail or someone who has access posts video clips, I’d suggest the rest of us withhold judgement. I do realize that won’t happen, because this is DC.

The link was posted then removed. It wasn't a full out brawl but definitely more than just shouting back and forth.

And such a fracas is reason enough for both clubs to withhold the video, but posters here are claiming that it ultimately resulted from Bethesda parents yelling vulgarities at Delco players. As shameful as the fracas was, at least it only involved parents. Yelling vulgarities at players is infinitely worse, but the far there is not a shred of evidence that this happened and circumstantial evidence (no reaction by refs or Delco parents for 70 minutes) suggests it didn’t happen. If it did, you would hear it on the video. Post a clip.

Search VEO LIVE- Bethesda 08. They took it down- they removed it. Why? There is nothing to post because Bethesda knows they are in the wrong. If you had watched- you would have heard the parents chirping at the players. You would have heard the Delco player say shut up. You would have heard the Bethesda parents say she shouldn't talk like that and continue to chirp and egg it on. That's when the AR stepped in and tried to defuse the sideline. Bethesda doesn't want you to see it. This is a DCUM Forum not PA/DELCO so I would think it is up to Bethesda to put the video back up but...here we are-

What is chirping?

Chirping is trash talking the other team or players

I acknowledged that Bethesda doesn’t want people to see it. There are Delco parents on this thread, and they don’t want people to see it either because they first engaged directly with the Bethesda parents (which I completely understand their doing under the circumstances), and that was the tipping point for the fracas. By making the video unavailable, both clubs are allowing anti-Bethesda trolls to make stuff up. Chirping also is not acceptable parental behavior (and I wish refs would toss parents who do it), but that’s a far cry from yelling vulgarities at 16-year-old girls. If we had the video, would know whether that actually happened.

Delco parent from a different age group and they almost always mute the audio when veo's are released post game even without any antics, so you won't get the link from their parents

Yes. And the film is not allowed to be shared currently. If you watch the film, you can see an 08 player tell the parents to stop taking to teenage girls. That's when a Bethesda father starts waving in her face saying "play the game, bye bye" and then just obnoxiously yelling. For an adult to engage with a teenage girl because she had simply had enough says a ton. The men yelled many things to the girls regarding their play and talking about the girls individually. You can hear them tell a girl that "she is scared" and then continue to interact with her. Another father said that "if you take one more touch, you're in trouble." Talking TO a Delco player. This is just 2 of many. It is highly inappropriate. I mean cmon... just let the girls play the game without having to worry about obnoxious, immature ADULTS on the sideline.

Chirping vulgarities like 🍆 sucker. Does that meet your standards? Bethesda breeds this despicable behavior, they should be fined at minimum

You can most certainly hear it on the veo. 100%. The Delco parents hadn't stepped in until the girls just completely had enough. A father had gone over to ask them to stop. Then another told them to stop talking to the girls, and to shut up. But as he should, because at that point, they didn't respect it. Again, when you watch the veo, you can see the Delco girls ask the ref SEVERAL times to control the parents. He had gone over to SC once to speak about it, and he did nothing. The ref and SC are to blame. Such a shame these parents have to ruin a kids soccer game.

You realize that VA parents are the only ones talking.

Many saw the VEO before it went down. From NJ and just responding to what I saw on tape. Its quite damning and troubling that Trump's america allows adults to justify their behavior like this. Towards young women may be even more troublesome. Take a pause from DCUM and watch Adolescence on Netflix for a dose of why this is a bigger issue than some soccer dads chirping
Anonymous
This sounds more credible than previous posts about vulgarities. And yes, totally unacceptable. I saw a parent of a big NJ club get tossed by the ref a couple weeks ago for less offensive behavior, so they certainly can do it without needing to ask the coach to intervene.

Club leadership obviously knows now who the offending parents were. Why not ban them from attending future games? People post here about how clubs tolerate unacceptable coaching behaviors because they win, but does the same thing happen with parents of kids who are strong players?

I don’t know if this makes me a crazy soccer parent, but (1) I don’t make a sound while watching my daughter’s games, beyond mild clapping when her team scores, and (2) if another parent said something directly to my daughter more than once, you can bet I would say something and stand next to him for the rest of the game.

So now it’s believable? Ha! All of you put up with this crap and make your daughters put up with it so you can win.

Unbelievable.

At least a couple of Ps or one poster posting a few times insisted there had to be more to it. IOW, there was a good reason that adults were acting this way. Adults.

And there is plenty of feeling that tolerating this behavior from coaches (the notorious SC apparently?) and parents is just the price to play. Just the way things are and other adults condone it by their inaction.

The children see you, you know.
