Bethesda Delco Parents Brawl?

Anonymous

Indeed. I’d still like to know what prompted all this. It must have been pretty egregious, because I can’t imagine of bunch of dads from outside Philly letting the other team’s parents yell at one of their daughters for 70 minutes without doing anything. There is more to this story.

Maybe because the Delco parents have class and maturity….. don’t stereotype the type of people they are, based on an area they are “supposedly” from. You can clearly see the type of charachter the Bethesda parents encourage when Bethesda players were dancing and laughing while parents were arguing and while their parents were getting physical.

The Bethesda coach and parents are adults and should be expected to act like adults regardless of what happens on the field. Why did any of the Bethesda ADULTS harass the players on the other team?

If you believe one poster attempting to excuse the behavior, it is because they are poor and people of color.

This is not going to be popular but needs to be said. I watched the video before it was taken down. It was annoying but "brawl" was very over the top. They were just annoying. Honestly, the kids of most of you DCUM have called my girls much worse starting in 5th grade in private school leagues. Just saying. My son is only 10 and playing high club level in Moco and I am preparing him to hear "The N word" so he is prepared for your kids (go ahead and clutch the pearls). PA parents were chanting at our club when our boys were only 8. The rule is always, "Control what you can control." Nevertheless, disappointed the Delco girls did not learn to ignore those idiots because I consider my kids at fault for allowing another person to control their mindset.

Yet in still, this was annoying and should have been defused by a Bethesda parent. There needs to be an enforcer parent (or salesman or saleswoman) on every team who knows how to have "that conversation" in a peaceful manner versus running on here to tattle tale. Just watch Randy Moss and slip in a "C'mon man..." and the situation can be dissolved very quickly. Conflict does not have to mean conflict. Confront the situation when it happens.

“Annoying” would be one word for it. You can raise your kid however you want, but you shouldn’t have to raise 16 year old girls to be able to take insults and harassment from grown MEN. That should not be normalized. It’s a shame these girls are being looked at as guilty and looked at as a “disappointment” because they simply had enough. No child should have to take comments from ADULTS during their youth soccer game. I blame this on their coach, Shaun, for not controlling the parents because they couldn’t control themselves. When you really watch the film and listen closely to the vulgar comments made, you’d understand.

I think Bethesda has multiple

And this is the reason that club and most importantly the parents keep the abusive SC around. Shameful and shameless.

If Bethesda dads really were yelling vulgar comments toward Delco players on the field, there are words other than “class” that I’d use to describe Delco parents remaining silent. But, having stood on sidelines next to Delco parents (different team) many times, I simply don’t believe (to their credit) that they would remain silent for 70 minutes if that is really what happened. Again, there is more to the story that is not being reported. Or maybe there is less to the story than is being reported. Show the video.

What makes you think a coach can hear or is listening to what parents are saying across the field? If you know SC, then you know he is actively coaching the entire game. If Bethesda parents actually were yelling at Delco players, there is at least one and probably two refs who are more likely to have heard them. Why didn’t they do anything? We’ve all seen refs kick parents off the sidelines. More to the story . . .

Not only has no one posted a clip, no one has even written what the Bethesda parents supposedly said, beyond saying it was vulgar, which you say didn’t happen, which is consistent with the refs not tossing or even talking to any Bethesda parents and the Delco parents not doing anything to protect their daughters, perhaps because it didn’t happen. My guess is that some Bethesda parents celebrated immaturely (and consistently with Bethesda parent behavior I’ve seen many times) at the end of a close game, a Delco parent understandably (and consistent with Delco parent behavior I’ve seen many times) told them to shut up, and the shameful fracas ensued. Until someone who was there relays what happened in some detail or someone who has access posts video clips, I’d suggest the rest of us withhold judgement. I do realize that won’t happen, because this is DC.

And such a fracas is reason enough for both clubs to withhold the video, but posters here are claiming that it ultimately resulted from Bethesda parents yelling vulgarities at Delco players. As shameful as the fracas was, at least it only involved parents. Yelling vulgarities at players is infinitely worse, but the far there is not a shred of evidence that this happened and circumstantial evidence (no reaction by refs or Delco parents for 70 minutes) suggests it didn’t happen. If it did, you would hear it on the video. Post a clip.

Search VEO LIVE- Bethesda 08. They took it down- they removed it. Why? There is nothing to post because Bethesda knows they are in the wrong. If you had watched- you would have heard the parents chirping at the players. You would have heard the Delco player say shut up. You would have heard the Bethesda parents say she shouldn't talk like that and continue to chirp and egg it on. That's when the AR stepped in and tried to defuse the sideline. Bethesda doesn't want you to see it. This is a DCUM Forum not PA/DELCO so I would think it is up to Bethesda to put the video back up but...here we are-

I acknowledged that Bethesda doesn’t want people to see it. There are Delco parents on this thread, and they don’t want people to see it either because they first engaged directly with the Bethesda parents (which I completely understand their doing under the circumstances), and that was the tipping point for the fracas. By making the video unavailable, both clubs are allowing anti-Bethesda trolls to make stuff up. Chirping also is not acceptable parental behavior (and I wish refs would toss parents who do it), but that’s a far cry from yelling vulgarities at 16-year-old girls. If we had the video, would know whether that actually happened.

What is chirping?
