That's not what it says. I don't know where everyone is getting that you resign immediately. It says you're guaranteed a job through September and you don't have to come into the office for that job, and they might put you on Admin Leave during that time. It doesn't say you're resigning now. The WaPo reporting is inaccurate. |
It sounds like you don’t have to work. |
I didn't receive the email. But I can't believe anyone would trust anything coming from this OPM. This program is not legal and not authorized by congress and I don't know of any regs authorizing this. Nor is there funding in place for it.

You realize they can change the RIF payout terms, right? Everything is up in the air. |
That isn't what it says. It says they may put you on admin leave, not will. |
It's not a buy out. I'm not sure why people are so confused. |
I assume they leaked that to the media to try to make feds seem unreasonable. |
It absolutely doesn't say you will be placed on admin leave. It says you may. The fact that so many people on this thread can't accurately read the email is making me think Trump is a little bit right about the quality of the federal workforce. (And I am a federal worker.) |
it's a trap.
None of you are getting any money for resigning. Tell me where the money would come from. |
They aren't even offering money. |
Probably because the articles are calling it a buyout/severance, the email implies you have to work but not in the office, and the memo that just dropped says admin leave. |
My office hasn't been ordered to RTO yet because we're heavily remote and don't all fit anywhere and I'm going to bet finding space for 10k people is going to take longer than until September. |
it's all garbage and we all know it. But look at how we all chomp at the bit and lap it up. |
Most of them have. Except for Fox News which is basically publishing congratulatory photos of Trump's minions and not reporting on any of the chaos he's causing. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/return-to-office-federal-employees-telework-policy-rcna188629 The Trump administration has said that just 6% of federal employees now work in person. But according to an August report from the Office of Management and Budget, among federal workers eligible for telework — and excluding those who are fully remote — roughly 61% of work hours are now in person. Among agencies, the Department of Agriculture had the highest percentage of in-person work hours, at 81%; while the Environmental Protection Agency had the lowest, at about 36%. |
Good catch. |
