Leaked before they could send it I bet.

This can't be accurate. VSIP authority is limited to $25k.

It is actually a good idea for people already planning to retire. Some other folks would regret retiring a few weeks ago.

That means nothing to this administration

Treasury employees got the email. Right at the kickoff during tax season.

Great for those few people leaving for private positions too, assuming they haven’t given notice before the email.

Memo is here. Its called Fork in the Road. Same name Elon used in his email to Twitter employees for their buyout.

The NBC article says it's a deferred resignation. Any chance they could put people on admin leave until September?

It doesn't seem to fit any of the designated criteria for admin leave: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/leave-administration/fact-sheets/administrative-leave/

I don't see how this offer could hold up.

Not it’s not. It doesn’t pay a lump sum it pays salary until September 30 while you remain employed. If you quit sooner you’re eligible for deferred retirement - which you would be anyway - but you don’t get paid more than what you worked. Basically it exchanges no return to office for a promise to leave by September 30 or sooner. That’s the only benefit above what you’d get if you just worked anyway and resigned or were fired at any point.
