School Opening Predictions for Tuesday?

Anonymous
I think the fretting about curriculum on this and other threads is by people with no modern perspective. It’s okay that your kid won’t learn the state capitals in 4th grade like you did. Spelling? Yes, the demand for that learning has evolved too. Modern curriculum needs to include classes about dealing with social media (how the advertising works, how notifications are distracting and addictive), classes about modern technologies like crypto and AI, and most importantly, classes about personal finance.

School will be delayed 2 hours on Tuesday.

They are a disaster, but these decisions are not made with what is best for students in mind.

It is supposed to be just as cold on Wednesday as Tuesday, so if they open late Tuesday, they will also likely be late on Wednesday.

Relatively little wind is expected. We should be fine to open on-time.

The forecast for 7am on Tuesday is 7 with a wind chill of 1. By 9am, the temps are in the teens. MCPS has demanded indoor recess (rather than allowing individual principals to decide) for cold temperatures several days this year, so it follows that logic that dangerously cold temps for students waiting for buses or walking to school will be considered.

I can't pull up the hourly forecast for Wednesday yet, but it's supposed to be colder, which is why I think there will be another delay.

My husband made it to work on time from Hyattstown to National Harbour. Schools can open on time for Tuesday. Continuity is good for kids. They should be in school everyday from M-F.

Are you sure you're looking in the right city? I don't see much of a wind chill in MoCo on Tuesday.

Where in MoCo? It's the largest school district in MD.

Such a great hyperbole. A disaster would be a bus accident in which children die. Safety is what is important. But I guess that doesn't matter to you.

Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Clarksburg all say no significant wind.

There are far more bus accidents in MoCo that don't involve snow or ice than those that do. Should we close schools indefinitely until people learn to be better drivers?
