The Netflix movie about Maria Callas with Angelina Jolie

And yet she was on way more top 5 lists initially than Nicole, even after Nicole won the Volpi. I'm not exactly sure why, since critics were not unanimous about Angelina's performance, but not many critics placed Nicole in the top 5. Even now.

Yes, latest updates have Angelina at 6 and Nicole at 8 overall. The percentages outside of the top 5 are striking though. Look at Nicole's, in particular. She's really not favored.

Pundits maybe. She was NOT on any end of the year top 10.
I do think the main issue with Nicole is oversaturation and that with Jolie, it's both the performance and her not playing the game too well these days. I don't think either makes it in, especially if enough voters watch the Marianne Jean-Baptise and Fernanda Torres films. Those are two stunning performances and I bet at least one makes it in.
Oversaturation only makes sense when talking about critics. SAG is an area that should've propelled her in. She has the awards, the box office and great preformance to back it up.

That's not true. Why are you making stuff up?

There is a Nicole stan on these threads who is upset.

And we'll never hear another word about how "meaningful" her experience with Callas was, just like there was never another word about Zamperini once that awards campaign ended. I wonder what happened to the shoe necklace they made the most publicity-friendly child Shiloh wear to the Unbroken premiere. With the custody battle settled in her favor, all she needed was kids by her side this time to make a statement. Less was more.

She won’t get an Oscar nom. She’s been snubbed by the main precursors and critics groups. No one is buying her victimhood narrative. I think it’s turning people off, because Brad is much more liked in the industry than she is.

I actually agree the constant victim narrative hurt rather than helped her. It’s boring and she comes across as weak rather than empowered, and bitter rather than moving forward in a strong, positive way. For someone who’s long been know for crafty marketing, she’s lost her touch.

While seeking to elicit sympathy, it only reminded Brad's many friends that she's still not-so-subtly attacking him eight years after the fact and he doesn't get to see his kids anymore. Whether or not it's fair (I have no idea), they blame her. Even if that's genuinely how she felt about the process, it was not good campaign strategy.

When the actual popular celebs of Hollywood are snubbed at populist SAG then you're argument falls apart. Brad nowhere near has the same power HW have. No one cares about his crap

Nicole was in a niche art film not everyone is interested in seeing. Jolie was in a quintessential Oscar-bait role with Netflix promoting her. Very big difference.

Do you know how much money babygirl has made??Not mention she won the NB for it? A24 isn't some small indie production. She's also popular in Hollywood which was the topic at hand. When the popular celebs are snubbed at the populist SAG then you can stop grasping for straws trying to connect Brad. 😂

Or you can just continue ignoring PP's valid point. Which is that an Oscar bait role like Maria, which involved challenging prep work, should have been a shoe-in for SAG. Certainly over Pamela Anderson, whose movie isn't even out yet or even Nicole, whose movie is far more niche, just out, and not widely available on Netflix for months now. Jolie's acting peers decided not to recognize her, despite a comeback narrative and role that can be considered once in a lifetime. Nicole didn't have any of that going for her. I actually agree with a PP who said Nicole works so much and is so lauded, it might have hurt her here. Just another good Nicole performance, right? There are dozens of them.

She was in a Netflix biopic. She should have easily received a SAG Nomination. The industry isn’t impressed by her performance or her “comeback” narrative. Demi Moore, and to a lesser extent Pamela Anderson, have better comeback narratives, and at least in Demi’s case, appear in much more liked films. Maria didn’t make any impact.

You can keep replying to yourself but she was not ever a shoe in at SAG. Especially since Larrain's films not like normal biopics.

Do you know what a pundit is or what type or critic that refers too? Angelina was not in one top 10 performance end of the list compared to Nicole/baby girl who was constantly hitting them.

Yes I am. I will not allow someone to diminish Nicole's achievements because her snub doesn't fit their fixated narrative.

She was snubbed at the SAG Awards today, even though her film’s distributor, Netflix, airs the awards and is known to get its actors lots of nominations. She cannot act. She has been everywhere, campaigning, acting as if she is the Queen of Hollywood, and her peers can’t wait to crown her. She’s figuring out how little talent her peers think she has and how little regard people in the industry have for her.

Doesn't Brad PR say this? Are you okay 💀 Anway THE Nicole Kidman was snubbed today. It's not personal to Angelina. 9/10 her "peers" aren't on the negotiating committee anyway. Random extras and lower tier are usually chosen.

lol
Of course, bring Brad or Brad’s PR into it when things don’t go well for Angie or someone doesn’t think much of her or her talent. Normal everyday people just may not be impressed with her. I know that’s hard for you to comprehend, but it’s fact. Are you ok? I do love how you always have an explanation though. 😂

You can stop while you're ahead. Trying to reverse this on me is not going to work. You're the one desperately trying to bring Brad and "Brad's many friends" as you put it into this. You're going so far as to diminish Nicole in the process. I am not like Jolie's little fans on here. I have no problem saying I am a proud kidmaniac and will read you to filth.

This is my first post in the convo, actually. Just responding to a post I saw before. I’ll back out now so you and the other poster can continue😅

How about we ignore the 'kidmaniac' (wtf)? Tiresome posts, based in nothing.

Yes, I totally think that LG would have been a better choice for this roll. She’s a gifted classically trained pianist, vocalist; and she can act. Gaga also looks more like Maria Callas.
