That doesn't say going after fare evaders is racist. It said the police have a history of racism.
No one is calling it racist. Some are questioning whether it is worth it, or whether public transit should be free.
the only reason you want it to be āfreeā is to protect poc from being fined or prosecuted. What next make food free to reduce shoplifting?
I didn't say I wanted it free, although I wouldn't be opposed to that. People need to be able to get to work and family, even if they're poor. And for those that aren't poor, it would be good to encourage more people to take transit than to drive.
In the meantime, I'm fully supportive of this attempted crackdown.
